I have 2 huge wild trees like this that grows in my garden, cutting a flower down and taking it inside the house brings a really good fresh smell to the home, and they look so nice, love em

You sold me at “almost thrive on neglect” 😅 I was wanting to put a hydrangea hedge (a row of 3-5) against our backyard fence but was told they wouldn’t thrive there (it’s full sun) I’m trying lilacs and praying they work, went with Ludwig spacths…if not there’s always ornamental grasses, thank you so much for the very helpful info 🙏🙏 I even took some written notes

Southern Gardeners - look into the Beach Party Lilac (Snowy Beach Party and Rosie Beach Party). Blooms down to Zone 10, and sometimes in Zone 11A. The only downside is they are not available yet as mature plants, as they are so new on a commercial scale. This means a lengthy wait until they get mature enough to bloom. The ones I purchased in 2022 are thriving in Zone 9A but are not yet old enough to bloom.

I have them in a good spot though, since my Josee lilac is located with them, and the first flower buds for this year have appeared on the Josee. This is my third year of flowers from the Josee lilac. (Josee is a dwarf rebloomer that is rated down to Zone 8, but many have success with it in Florida's 9A.)

Yet one of the biggest lilac gardens, the hulda klager is in the temperate Pacific Northwest!! Recommend scentara double blue, blue skies, lavender lady, angel white, dwarf scentara pura and miss kim for moderate zones 7-8

1921, the first double-colored variety "Dzhambul". Leonid Kolesnikov. Russia. But the sensation has more contrast. The edges are whiter.

I bought a "Sensation Lilac" that was supposed to be a purple with white striping. It finally bloomed this year and it's light pink and white. No fragrance at all. It's beautiful but I'm disappointed ☹
