Just 4 km away from the town of Samobor near Zagreb, Croatia you can visit St. Barbara Mine mine in Rude. This mine experienced its
golden age during the 16th century and was explored for copper and iron. Today the mine was revitalized and is now a touristic site.

My father, Max Jean Reichard, was the mining engineer for Sv. Barbara between World War I and WWII. The photo is of him with his miners at the entrance of Sv. Barbara, perhaps 1930.
