As his Up The Stuss imprint approaches its 4th anniversary, Chris Stussy is continuing to unveil new projects that only add to his ever-growing reputation as an artist and label boss. Welcoming a wealth of global talent to date, the next release brings something special as he digs even deeper to launch the label’s Scholarship initiative - supporting new artists from across the globe with advice, mentoring, initiatives and a platform to showcase their work.

Introducing Pedro Borlado. Born in Madrid but now based in the US, the newcomer is an artist whose sound reflects an artist well beyond his years. An avid digger, embracing wide-reaching influences and pockets of genres within his sets, here he showcases his studio work for the very first time as he unveils his debut production as the first artist to release on Up The Stuss’ new sub-label with his four-track ‘First Light’ EP.

Bringing one of 2024’s most notable basslines alongside swirling synths and skippy drums, title cut ‘First Light’ sets the tone from the off. ‘Pleasure Pallet’ balances acid tones and warping sonics, while ‘Seeking Infinity’ harnesses hazy grooves and snaking percussion amongst playful arrangements. Add in closing cut ‘E700’, loaded with machine funk and pumping low-ends, and you get a stand-out debut from a name you’ll be hearing much more of in the coming years.
