I strongly suggest taking a introductory course to automotive technology at your local community college. I have seen many men and women while earning my degree in the automotive field attending the introductory courses which were offered at low costs and the students gained experience in the proper and safe use of tools along with a basic knowledge of automotive repair. I applaud your efforts, keep up the good work!

Both of you will get the hang of it after while. Really saves a lot of money doing it yourself, unless is something major.👍👍

Make sure to first uncap the brake master cylinder reservoir when pushing the pistons in, and if it's already full you might need to use a turkey baster to remove some first so it doesn't overflow. Brake fluid is nasty and corrosive and ruins paint and rubber and plastic parts. And to push in the pistons a c-clamp usually works well. It's also a good idea to clean and regrease the caliper slide pins with thick high heat silicone grease.

Also, when breaking tough, rusted or seized fasteners applying some penetrating oil first often helps.

As a machine tip, next time when you take off your brake caliper, use your brake caliper tool to push the brake calipe pistons back to how they started when the caliper is off the rotor that is why your tool didn't work

Also I real suggest that you look up Chrisfix he is a car machine, and how does a professional quality video on how to change brake rotors engine oil changes coolent flash and much more he very much of a professional and knowledgeable person how know alot

Also Props to u guy taking charge on doing it yourself.

Also torque your bolts screws, so it won’t be too tight or loose very important.

Glad to see you guys take ownership for your car repairs. I took that step in 2021 and was able to install front brakes on my 2004 Toyota Sienna. On subsequent repair on the same car, I was able to press in front wheel bearings and Macpherson struts. I highly recommend that you invest in a Milwaukee mid torque impact wrench. You will find the repairs a lot easier and probably, more enjoyable.

When you are pushing back the pistons don't push directly on them. Slide in an old brake pad and push against that instead

another reason to not buy those are odd lug bolts for the tires lol. I didn't know that there were lug bolts, only lug nuts. That looks like a pain just to put on a tire.

It’s useful to get a impact drive so you don’t need to always use your hands, tiring 😅.

Great video especially for newbies doing your own brakes and rotors. Must be Canadian since you used Nm instead ft lb and that you sound American🙂?
