School system doesn't reward you for competence it rewards speed to competance curiosity is killed in school system

The system ain’t built for students to have all the time in the world, there are deadlines which then creates pressure upon students so they resort to memorisation. I’m sure a lot more people would be willing to learn without the pressure of time.

Its a valid point. However, the school syllabus doesnt allow room to practice patience in learning. Using the example of your math problem students are expected to learn by end of class. By the next class theres a new problem to learn. Meaning that person who took a month is behind by school standards. That engrains the belief ( mindset) that opposes the one youve mentioned

is this true for learning disability like dyslexia or dyscalculia?

What is the empirical evidence for this stance, in light of the following considerations:
1. IQ varies between people, and people with IQs of less than around 80 find learning simple tasks difficult, and the US Army even prohibits people with IQs of less than 83 from joining them.
2. Personality varies between people, and using the Five-Factor Model or Big Five framework of personality, our position on the spectrum of the five traits can tell us how easy it is for us to do certain things, among those be creative (represented by the trait Openness). And the research shows that no, not everyone can be a creative person.
3. Learning disabilities exist

As a person who likes to follow evidence, I'm skeptical of the self-help mantra "Everyone can do it" and it's important to be realistic instead of selling hope because that's how you help people. Someone with a 140 IQ saying, "You can learn it too", needs to add a disclaimer saying that someone with a significantly lower IQ might experience difficulty. It's about tempering people's expectations.

I think you should engage with the psychological literature and experts because this claim steps into their territory.

I have a question, what about a person who could learn a lot of programming concepts in one week and I could learn the same concepts but in one month. Then if we are going to work as a programmer he will have an advantage, therefore he will get the job instead of me probably 😢

So, what should we do when we know there are people much more talented in an area ?
