Vijeo XD - Communicating to M221 using Modbus TCP
Показать описание
How to Setup up a simple M221 project. How to set up EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert (Vijeo XD) to Communicate to the M221 using Modbus TCP.
Have you decided to try Vijeo XD? If so, you might be wondering about how to establish some basic communication to some Schneider Electric PLCs. In this article we can talk about getting communication going between Vijeo XD (EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert) and a small M221 SoMachine Basic PLC.
At present, March 2018, the best way to communicate to the M221 using Vijeo XD is with Modbus TCP (alternatively serial/USB). The steps are simple and straightforward.
After configuring the ethernet port for the M221 and adding 1 rung of instructions the PLC is ready for communication via Modbus TCP.
In Vijeo XD we add the Schneider Electric Modbus TCP driver. In the properties of the Mobus TCP driver we set the IP address of the PLC (hopefully on the same network as your PC/Runtime) and the addressing to IEC mode. That's it for the driver!
You can now add variables pointing at the appropriate driver name and IEC addresses you have used in the M221. Graphic objects are bound to the variable name as required.
To test the communication you can use the Vijeo XD simulation which can communicate directly with the PLC (even with the trial version). If all goes well you should be seeing and changing data in the M221 immediately.
For those interested in importing Symbols into Vijeo XD instead of addressing, this feature is coming very soon. Stayed tuned for my article on Vijeo XD Symbol Link as it becomes available.
Happy HMI development!
