Total non-answer. "We're a country of immigrants but we're also a country of laws" is the go-to Republican answer when asked about immigration. It's meaningless.

Every country is a "country of immigrants" based on how far you go back. Who cares? The developed world is an increasingly small percentage of the world's population, and if we open the floodgates to the 3rd world, as we have done since the 70s, we will become the third world.

Why is it so hard for Republican candidates to take a principled stand here? They'll rant for hours and hours about some unimportant side issue like marijuana or gay marriage but can't stand up for what actually fucking matters--our security and culture.
