Dude was NOT gonna get his double bass out, NOoooo Way.... However a sneaky bit of blues-boogie on the piano did the trick....

Makes me remember the sound of the old '51 Kay 5 string my old bass player played on...that was beautiful sounding bass...brutal on his fingers...but he knew it was worth it

Some people might not appreciate this - but the sound mix is absolutely crucial in this recording, because if recorded 'casually' - there's no way you would've heard the double bass. So this was some very careful & deliberate recording to 'mix up' the double bass. Which leads me to think it was not as random as we are lead to believe...
(this from a DB player who has spent years agonising over DB pick ups & associated 'sound engineering').
