Yesterday was the day when I officially placed an order for the new X4 M40i. I drove the car and I can tell you, it's an absolute BEAST. The only thing that you need to get used to, is the rear window, it's a bit smaller compared to other cars.

Suggestion: a 120 sec part of the video where no one speaks, just drive around curves and straights!
It would achieve 2 things:

1) Better idea of cabin isolation, NVH levels
2) I can hear the sweet linear acceleration of the I6

My husband surprised me by getting me the 2021 m40i as our 18th anniversary gift. Traded up from Volvo XC40.
I am in LOVE with this amazing car! It’s quick speed it has saved my life getting me out of almost collisions. It also feels very nice to drive slow in, fast or slow this car is amazing. The engine is gorgeous. The sound is powerful for its size! At first the engine used to embarrass me every time I turned it on in the pick up line at my kids catholic school with its incredible rumbling purr, but now I get a kick out of turning heads every time I turn it on.

Great review Phil! I current drive a 2016 BMW 428i GC. My next one will be a 2023 X3 M40i or a X4 M40i. With a couple of exceptions, I've driven Bimmers all my life. I used to live in Germany and worked for BMW in Munich in the 70s. Owned one of the first 2002tiis off the production line!

Great to see a review with a lengthy drive experience. The drive for me is most important and I think I will test drive this x4. I have a x5 right now.. great but a bit big and bumpy for me. It’s a great spec 22 plate and I just wouldn’t stray from BMW due to the build quality. First class!! Thank you!

We tested a 19 Stelvio Ti Sport and found the harsh ride quality on the 20s to be an immediate show stopper for us. Drove a 21 a few months ago and it was substantially better. Not sure if it's new tires or what but completely livable even on 20s with fixed sport dampers. BMW/Audi make nice cars but the modern pricing is out of control for vehicles that just don't have much personality. If not going Alfa, I personally recommend testing a Model Y performance. Ridiculously fast and super livable if you put 19s on it. Costs nothing to run and basically doesn't depreciate.

I bought the 2022 bmw x3 m40i a few weeks ago, I compared it to the Porsche Macan, Mercedez GLC 43 amg, Jaguar F-Pace, and Audi SQ5. I felt the x3 m40i to be the best choice and felt for the segment its a good value compared to the competitors. There is a long wait due to chip shortage.

Awesome review! I probably watched this video more than 10 times already. My X4 will arrive 2 months from now and I can't freaking wait for it. Are you happy with this red interior color? I wanted to change it to Fiona red, but I can no longer do it since it's already in production.

Great review as always Phil. I hate that feature start on/off. Isn’t that a scam? U don’t save any gas plus that’s how the engine takes the most wear and tear by turn it on and off constantly unless u drive like a lunatic doing 20 donuts a day. I shut it off in my car. Thank god I can block it.
The dealership just want u to get a new starter every two years, and they r not cheap for that car. They r about 2k with the labor.

When is that RFT gonna go away? Another scam. What do u recommend if u r going on a cross country trip with rft? Do those temporary inflatable kit that Walmart sells work? Not to mention that rft makes the ride more uncomfortable.

PS. Didn’t know that chrome in sport cars is a big no-no.

In summary side by side That BMW or brand new Stelvio which one would u take? Miss Auto Fanatic will take the Beamer but what say u?

Does it have a good ride quality even on 21 rims in comfort mode? Did you test it on broken pavement and rough roads?
