One foot in the past

Показать описание
A few million years ago, our ancestors stopped climbing trees and started walking upright, on two feet. To work out how and when this happened, researchers look for fossils -- and recently they found a surprising set of foot bones in Ethiopia. The foot is about 3.4 million years old, making it roughly the same age as 'Lucy' and her species, Australopithecus afarensis. But while Lucy's species had feet much like modern humans, the new foot has an opposable big toe, like a chimp. So do the foot bones represent a new species of hominin? Watch the video and decide.

at 5:22 only 2 things popped into my head and they are both from movies.

1. Pineapple Express police car escape scene: Tree! Tree! Tree! Squirrel!
2. Pixar's Up! talking dogs: SQUIRREL! *deep intent stare into a random direction*

those 2 thoughts, made however i got to this video totally worth it.

1. I am not in school and don't have an evo bio prof. 2. An evobio prof would not stammer and cough. The information is easily available on wiki. It's not surprising you have a comic book understanding of the history of science as well as the facts, methods, and philosophy of it.

I don't mean body structure, DNA is not about this ( part of it is, a small part btw )

We share DNA with every single living being, even with trees.

There are a large number of fossils ( hope that written in a correct way ) that not only show us some human ancestors but the similarities of those fossils with Humans and Apes is incredible, Those are the "mid-ancestors" as we call them in my main language. We share the same Lineage... a really long and old Lineage, Common Ancestor : Ramapithecus

Or, you could check out from a library a actual science book that even has pictures in it that shows you as well as explains in detail how humans evolved from the first replicating cell. Donald Johannsen's book entitled "Lucy" is easy to understand if you just want to learn about our connection to our common ancestor. Please don't willfully stay ignorant. The information and evidence is available and it is overwhelmingly credible and enormous. Evolution is the basis of all of biology.

Facts are very difficult to come by - scientists are critical of asserted facts, but very respectful of facts that are demonstrable and reliable. Creationists "know" an awful lot - most of it nonsense.

Isn't there a Kirk Cameron movie you should be watching?

Great. Just what we need. Someone else who knows nothing telling the scientists what is and what is not science.

Just forget it, you are talking to someone who would rather rip his own eyes out than learn anything.

Very interesting video. I recommend you to check out "Origins of us" by the BBC, its first part is all about how we have evolved to walk upright.

Having science explained by a creationist is like having calculus explained by someone who doesn't know what a variable is.

God damn, how many are there of you guys? If you dont want to understand it dont get angry at those that do.

The question is whether this is an early hominid or a non human ape.

I never said an hypothesis is a law. What I have said is you don't know what you're talking about.

Why can't we all agree that GOD and EVOLUTION both EXIST??

So I suppose you think some invisible, supernatural, magic man that has no explanation for his existence, just wandered around for god knows how long (pun intended), then decided he'd make a little play thing he'd call man and wiggled his finger and poof, there he was -- animate mud (or clay, as your book says). And even sillier, the magic guy too a rib from this man and poof, a woman. Sorry, I can't stop laughing, it makes it hard to type and I haven't even said anything about the snake yet.
