Build your own system. If a complete dumb ass like me who knew nothing about PC gaming can build his own rig, you can to. Building your own rig really teaches you how your computer works and it is so god damn fucking rewarding when you get it to work. You can learn so much from building your own amazing PC gaming rig. Trust me, it is so worth it to build your own from hands up. Anyone can do it. I know you can do it. I believe in you. If a dumb ass can build one, any dumb ass can do it to.

I was set on buying a 700$ Alienware!

I ended up building a 350$ PC with 3x the power...

Strange how those who build computers look down upon those who do not.  I drive a car but have no interest in building one.  Same thing with a computer.

I will never buy a prebuilt ever again.

I just build my first PC last week. Its so rewarding. Never again will I waste $2000 on a $1100 PC build again. (I bought a brebuilt then sold it and built one with better specs at $1100)

The biggest pro to building a pc is that you know what parts are in there and you've done research on every single part so it makes it easier to upgrade the parts in the future which in turn makes it cheaper because you don't have to replace everything by buying a new PC.

I'm going to build my first gaming PC in a month or so. Very scared

I built a PC myself but what was very interesting was at the lower price range, typically less than $1200, it's actually cheaper to buy a PC than build one with the exact same parts. After this $1200 threshold, then it seems better to build your own. Since I'm running quad titan x hydro coppers, I hit a very high price range and it was "better" to build it. Truthfully, the $800 I saved (on a $12, 000 PC) may not have been worth the extended time I spent in waiting for parts to ship, putting the parts together, troubleshooting errors, returning bum parts, etc.

For me the fun factor is on par with cost savings. I love to fabricate anyway and being able to turn on and use a pc that you built yourself is crazy cool.

Hardest part is pulling out the 24 pin

pc building is not hard whatsoever, you literally look at the plug, see the name on the plug and find the socket that the plug goes into on the motherboard, bang, done. once you plug everything in you press the power button (omg) and put an operating system on it which consists of pressing the next button 10 times and choosing your harddrive to install the operating system on. next you install all the drivers and to do that you just type into google what your parts are with the word "drivers" at the end of it for all your parts. download the drivers. done. that's it. you have a gaming pc that will outrun new consoles and the next generation after that.

The most scary thing is not how to build a pc. It's DOA hardware.

Just looked at a prebuilt pc that was very slightly worse than the one i just built that cost $800 without an OS or shipping included in that price. My PC was a little over $600 with shipping and the OS. That really sucks because the one thing i learned from building my PC was that i hate building PC's. It just wasn't fun. I kept worrying i was going to break something than it took me like an hour to realize my computer wasn't starting because i had the wrong cable plugged into the PSU for my fans. Wish prebuilts were more reasonable because i'm not looking forward to upgrading this myself.

I really want to build a PC but if I messed up I don't have enough money to fix things up and that's what scares me about building PCs

I was actually looking at buying a steam machine about a year ago because I had no prior knowledge of building a PC. So I did some research, checked the specs, and finally after about 10 hours of research spread over a few days, I came to the decision of building my own PC. And boy was I glad. It was also something for me and my father, who works in IT, to bond over. We spent about 4-5 hours building and figuring out what goes where... all those freaking wires. It honestly felt soooo much better than if I had bought a pre-built, because since then I have upgraded the CPU fan and the graphics card. The CPU fan (V8 GTS) was the hardest upgrade since I had to unwire everything and pull out the motherboard. But now I know a lot more than about my PC than I did when I had my pre-built alienware. So to summarize, building is much more satisfying and you feel more comfortable upgrading when the time comes.

It's simple: you buy pre-built PCs If
1. You're too stupid to built one yourself
2. You're too lazy to built one yourself
3. You've no time to built one yourself
4. You just don't care
