$15 Amazon Rotors - Catazer Ultralight 160mm 6-Bolt Disc Brake Rotors Review and Actual Weight

Checking out some $15 Amazon Brake Rotors from Catazer. These are superlight and are very similar to the Ashima Ai2 rotors but quite a bit less at $15 for the pair. These Rotors worked OK, but unless counting grams is super important you could run something like the SRAM Centerline rotors and be very happy.

This one of the best of your videos. I really value your opinion on items that you personally use.

😂😂😂 I was in the exact same situation today, observing my Ashima rear has a groove, and besides new XT pads, I would need a new rotor. Found almost the exact same as yours, except the knock off has the black central portion like my Ashima's. I bagged two for $17.62, and they are branded Boenoea. Although Ashima sounds Japanese, I did a little investigating, and they appear to have Taiwanese origin. Thank you for the video.

I have those rotors in 203mm and they work perfectly fine, they were like 10 dollars on Ebay each one.

That was a useful video. I’m planning an inexpensive build for my assistant at work. I have a nearly-new set of Shimano M400 brakes on a shelf that will work well, but I do not have surplus rotors. I won’t be buying those. Never compromise on safety. If they are turning BLUE? That ain’t good.

would you recommend these over the Ashima rotors.

Plan to try it on but not after watching this. Thank you for the enlightenment.

Can you recommend a rotor for sustained braking? I use an Avid rotor and it's already warped after like 30mins of braking lol

Have exactly the same rotors on my gravel bike
Never had peoblema in the last 2 years
Slightly discoloring, but also on my icetech shimanos
I only use organic pads with small ceramic particles in it also from china 5$ for 5 pairs
So i can keep the wear down
Only had that one pair in the last 2 years and its fine af
I use mechanical tektro discbrakes with twopiston pushout

Formula 6 bolts Solid rotor is 87gram (weight on my scale) at 160mm. Not expensive, no creepy cut-out on the braking surface. Nothing even comes close to that. Sadly it is discontinued, perhaps it is just too good.

Had these rotors for the last 6 years. Shame the price keeps going up. Was around $9 then now $12

Ты прав братишка. Ротор должен иметь достаточно поверхности для трения колодок. Эти огромные отверстия помогают снизить вес, но колодкам мало поверхности для правильного сцепления. Нужно искать золотую середину между площадью тормозной поверхности и веса.

Got mine $6 a pair 😂 75g each. They look terrible, haven't tested them yet

I believe your whole explanation about surface area is backwards. More surface are is better braking but less cooling. On less surface area in this case has less braking comparable, as it doesn’t have much surface area for pads to grip but has a better cooling due to slots.

Any other mountain bikers cringe when he kept putting his fingers on the braking part?
