A lot of people keep talking about her nails and phone but homelessness can happen overnight. My husband and I lost our jobs during the pandemic, were too embarrassed and prideful to ask for help, so we lived in a tent for two months with our dog. We donated blood and plasma, pawned off our things. We had super nice clothes, I wore makeup and used the laundry and we presented ourselves as if nothing was wrong. You can’t automatically assume that just because someone has something of value or because it costs money that they’re not homeless.

I remember seeing her a few months ago sleeping on the street in Silverlake L.A with her baby. People in the community called the police. There’s homeless ppl in the area, but u don’t ever see a homeless woman, with a baby asleep on the sidewalk at 8am with just a sheet covering them in Silverlake. When I saw her I pulled over quickly to see if I can help in any way. She was placed in the shelter not far away and everyday I would see her waking with her baby at 7 am in the cold to set up her art stand. I know for a fact. She was definitely homeless with her little one and living out of a shelter. The people in the community would bring her money, food and things for her and her baby. I haven’t seen her lately. I hope she’s been placed in permanent housing and out of that shelter because it’s always some type of assault happening there per Citizen App. Good luck Cori!

The fact she’s homeless, but still found a way to keep her baby clean, fed, clothed, AND found a way to make their immediate environment feel like a mini home — all the care and organization and attention to detail that went into her little art stand — is incredible 💜
