I recently saw the University of Chichester do a production of this and was blown away by how magical the music and the story is. I highly recommend any society putting this show on.

Abraham [spoken]: He’s gone, Constance
Constance: I know. And I can’t just make another one of him, like you did
[Sung] Lost in time
We are lost in time
Swallowed by the seconds
Missing in the minutes
Our hours are devoured by the dials
So many ways, so many other paths to take
Damn you, Abraham, damn you!
How can a man with such vision be so short sighted?
All I needed was time
Just time
Just-
Abraham [spoken]: Constance-
Constance: Get away from me!
[Sung] Time can take me
Bend and break the shape you gave me
I don’t care
Shake and shatter
Beat and batter
All that matters lying there
Gone
Tomorrow isn’t waiting tonight
Tomorrow’s full of hatred and spite
How can you love with such passion
And kill your compassion just the same?
Lock and leave me
Don’t deceive me
Keep your lies, pretend you care
All you ever thought of were the things you wanted and you dared
To claim that I betrayed you
That I spurned your needs
Strange, how can I save you if I’m drowning in your pleas?
Blame my actions if you must, to keep your conscience clean
Clockwork, I can be clockwork
If you need clockwork, that’s what I’ll be
Clockwork, nothing but clockwork
Cold-hearted clockwork, just a machine
I’m not like you
And that’s fine by me
Constant and static
Part automatic
Mostly unseen
If that’s all you see
Abraham [spoken]: Constance, you are so much more than that
Constance: Don’t
[Sung] Hands for praying
Lips for saying
Legs for straying, told to stay
All you gave me, made to save you
Just a slave to have your way
How am I supposed to be what I’m not?
If I can move why sit on the spot?
What am I meant to be but this?
You ask me to dismiss all I know
Call me Constance and demand that I change
Build a heart’s desires and regret how it behaves
Let me love you and decide it’s not the kind you crave
(Villagers: Clockwork, clockwork)
Constance: Clockwork, I can be clockwork
If you need clockwork, that’s what I’ll be
Clockwork, nothing but clockwork
Cold-hearted clockwork, just a machine
Not like you
Well that’s fine by me
Constant and static
Part automatic
Mostly unseen
Villager [spoken]: Abraham, open this door!
Constance [sung]: A story of my own
Abraham: Constance-
Constance: A tale that I don’t know
Abraham: What’s happening?
Constance: A picture I’m a part of
(Villagers: Oddity!)
Abraham [spoken]: Constance, no!
Constance: Move out of my way Abraham, you can’t keep me anymore!
You talk about love. That’s love! Brave, kind, selfless!
[Sung] Not like you, let them come for me
I’m the girl who took on the world
Once upon a-

If there is a better British musical, please let me know. If you do, I will probably get a good laugh!
