An audioslide accompanying the MRM Editor's pick for January 2017, entitled "Advanced processing and simulation of MRS data using the FID appliance (FID-A)—An open source, MATLAB-based toolkit" by Jamie Near from Department of Biomedical Engineering, McGill University, Montreal, Canada.

============================
HIGHLIGHTS:
- An open-source toolkit for advanced Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) simulation and data processing, as well as basic RF pulse design and analysis, was introduced.

- Three main aspects are focused namely (i) the use of a spectral registration algorithm in FID-A for a few different applications, (ii) FID-A processing pipeline and reliability testing, and (iii) generating an accurate simulated basis set using FID-A.

- The software enables manipulation of high-dimensional "raw" data, and contains a large library of processing tool designed to operate raw data.

- Processing yields a marked improvement on data quality and reliability.

- Accurate basis sets can be easily generated using the today simulation toolbox.
