So, I recently discovered this channel and started watching random videos back through its history... and this one stuck with me afterwards, because of the unanswered question it contains: Why did the clerk at the border not ask for the legally-required parental consent form? They always ask for that - they *have* to - but this one time, when Jaiden's mother had lost it somewhere in the chaos and turmoil of Minneapolis, he just... didn't. A lucky break, perhaps. I saw a comment suggesting that he knew she didn't have one but, being a very polite Canadian, decided not to ask for it so as not to make her day worse. Or... maybe there's an actually logical reason.

See, it occurred to me a little while after watching the video - prompting me to come back here and share my theory in a comment on this 4-year-old vid. That border-crossing clerk was looking at a pair of *brand new passports* - one look at them, and he'd no doubt notice that they'd been renewed that very day. Considering his line of work, he'd no doubt also be aware that having children's passports renewed required the consent of both parents, where applicable. Thus, he might simply have concluded that there was no reason to ask for the consent-form - if the father *hadn't* consented to that trip, why would he have consented to the renewal of the passports, that very same day?

Hence, he could just shrug and let them through. No point wasting time and energy on that detail when the passport renewal office had so clearly already done so. Move along, next please!
