Amateurs talk camera bodies, professionals talk glass and photographers talk light....filmmakers talk none of that but what the viewer will see. My guess is almost every piece of equipment used to make Gone with the Wind, Casablanca, even Raiders, has long been destroyed. Same with your projects. They will remain long after your C200 is retired.

We're still using the C200 too and don't plan on upgrading anytime soon either!

I myself owned a Sony a7iii and planned to upgrade to the bmpcc6k pro for all it’s crazy features but just like you said… I invested the money in spec projects.. learned colour grading.. hired good actors.. had good production designing.. had good scripts and read lots of film books.. one of the best decisions !! Keep inspiring mate..

Still delivering award-winning, broadcast content using the C200. For sure there are features that are frustratingly absent... but there's an argument for sticking with a camera, getting to know it, understand its limits; in the process, discovering how to light for it, filter, tweak settings, etc. And then use the money you save (from upgrading every six months) to invest in quality cinema glass that maximizes the C200's ability to render colours, reveal contrast and detail, extend the perceived dynamic range, and make beautiful, organic moving images.

So well said man. So many people obsess with the new shiny camera with all bells and whistles and forget how much more important the story, performance and production design actually are. You could have an IMAX camera but that's not gonna improve a poor story, poor acting and bare set design. Love the honesty here!

Totally agree with you. I still shoot on my fs7 because a camera is a tool and depending on what kind of project you do then you just grt the right tool for it. Keep going man you channel is great

Somehow this is exactly the answer I’ve been searching for regarding the C200 and I’m thankful to you for putting such a thoughtful video together.

Came here from Daniels video. Nice channel. On this topic, I always think of it like this: A carpenter can use the same hammer for 20 years until the handle breaks - and then he just replaces the handle. Even a new hammer just still hits the same nail. A hammers job is to hit nails.A cameras job is capture video. “Leveling up” isn’t about a new sensor - it’s about everything you mentioned in this video. Very practically I might add. If a carpenter wanted to build a better house, a new hammer won’t do it. But perhaps better techniques or a better crew that pays attention to detail would make a better house.
Cheers.

PROUCTION DESIGN!! THE C-200 IS AN EXCELLENT GEM OF A CAMERA BY THE WAY!! 8 BIT IS MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR SOCIAL MEDIA AND RAW IS A KILLER FOR NARRATIVE WORK!!

You work within your budget. When I was hired as DP of a healthcare company, I was given 2 cameras a Canon XA-40 and a XA-25. That is what i have to work with. No reason to complain, money is not available for an upgrade. I make it work and revel in that my camera weighs less them a battery for my former Sony PDW-F350 HD XDCAM

Hey, your work looks awesome! You appear to have mastered the C200 for the work you do. I have a C100 MKII and I’ve been wanting to upgrade but I’m only filming Sunday School lessons. Wishing you continued success and a very blessed holiday season for you and your family.
