Comparison of the 3 Laptop Gaming GPUs. MX350 / GTX 960m / GTX 1050

Unfortunately Shadowplay didn't work on the MX350 Laptop so I recorded with MSI Afterburner which can reduce the FPS a bit more.

So overall the MX350 is probably a tiny bit faster than the 960M. But overall both cards are almost as fast.

The Laptops weren't overclocked for this video!
The GTX 960M is 10% faster than a GTX 860M.
The GTX 960M is about as fast as a desktop GTX 750 ti
The MX350 is about as fast as a GTX 960M.

The GTX 1050 (Laptop) is around as fast as a desktop GTX 760 or 950.

I normally go all out on my products, but I sold my laptop that had a 980M in favour of a lighter more portable (and I didn’t worry about throwing around) Inspiron 15, which had a 960M. Obviously it couldn’t play a lot of games at super high and 60FPS, but if you lowered the resolution and stuck to supremely optimized games like e-sports titles and GTA V, the thing was a workhorse.

Don’t be discouraged by these benchmarks, because you can still run these games at 720P or 900p with medium and low settings and still get 60FPS. In some games, having a lower resolution is seen as an advantage, because the things you’re aiming at appear larger (and wider depending on your ratio). Plus, I’m sure you can trick your parents into getting a laptop with an MX350 very easily, considering they are rarely advertised as ‘gaming’ laptops. However, I would check to see how Ryzen’s Vega 10 integrated graphics compare to the MX350 before you commit to a certain laptop.

If I just overclock the MX350, I would get a much closer comparison to the GTX 1050

i have a gtx960m and its holding quite good with up to 2020 games, and looks like mx350 has similar performance .... so basically its the new re-branded gtx960m with so much less power hungry 20w compared 75w in gtx960 so maybe you can play with battery (unplugging the laptop with gtx960 cause a huge performance drop and makes the games unplayable ) + it comes in newer laptops with newer generation cpu that has a slim design and less weight and heat with long lasting battery's . so i recommend going for an mx350 over a gtx960m.
gtx1050m will give you the same or about +3% performance of a desktop gtx1050 which is equal to a gtx760.

I was leaning towards the AMD version of the ideapad 5 until GTA became free but I might opt for the Intel version because it has a graphics card so I'll be able to play the game on higher settings.
