Redding is a city in Northern California. Turtle Bay Exploration Park includes an arboretum, botanical gardens and a museum with natural history exhibits. Spanning the Sacramento River, the Sundial Bridge is a suspension bridge that also acts as a huge, working sundial. West, Shasta State Historic Park holds the ruins of an 1800s gold-rush mining town. Whiskeytown National Recreation Area has waterfalls and a lake.

After 40 years of living there, I can name many more, if your a golfer there are many choices, not only is there the lakes mentioned, but a few minutes further there is Trinity River, weaverville, Burney falls, worth the trip, the caverns, north end of shasta lake and more.
