Great video Chris...I’m a big fan of using presets as a creative tool as it helps me think outside the box. Sometimes it gives results that I wouldn’t have thought of at the first place, I still end up tweaking it further to my taste.

Alright Chris! I keep all these notions in mind and put them in the woodshed. I usually start by inserting a preset into the reverb or delay track and then adjust the parameters according to my taste and my ears. Sometimes I also use a preset on the compressor appropriate to the style of the song.

Hi Chris. Can you please make a video to show how to map electronic drum kit to groove agent. Specially hi hats. Groove agent has just one preset with yamaha drum kit i guess, unlike other drum vst where they got drum maps of different drum kit brands. Thanks

I'll throw this in, before the end of the vid, I expect Chris' answer will be fine. But for anyone else considering this a serious question, give yourself a break. Presets can sound great, but they aren't proscribed, just suggestions you may (or may not) want to play with. Recommend not feeling so bound to make a decision, on something you should just play with, and play with on lots of sources. Go play, stop giving yourself a headache

I like to use the presets as a springboard to achieving ‘my’ sound. Once I’ve dialled in to my taste it gets saved.

Yes you should. Try them out...they might get you close to what you're looking for...then you can tweak it from there.

Going out on a limb here and assume no one really reads the manual about a particular plugin, so yeah, a preset is a great starting point.
