Nice list, i did one playthrough with Night Comet and it was super easy. I agree it's the best one in the game, even Malenia was almost a joke. Start the fight with Rannis Dark Moon and then spam NC and you are good, repeat the same strategy for every single boss and you one shot almost all normal enemies.

I had trouble using other sorcery and then I tried Adula's Moonblade vs Malenia and I took her out pretty easily too. People say they nerfed it but it is still way powerful! I did use black knife Tiche too, but that frost buildup with Adula's Moonblade works and using in off hand with wing of Astel as right hand main weapon or even bastard stars is amazing. You you swing the bastard stars and do a quick Moonblade triple strike followup right after the bastard stars swing! I'm testing out that combo moveset now during NG1. I took out Melania using just the Moonblade and Tiche in first playthrough and decided to spec up bastard stars and give it a go because one Brit YouTuber who trashed it to F tier repeatedly, finally admitted that it is workable and he is primary PvP so dings weapons that are not good for PvP. I'm using Bastard stars in right hand and Carian Regal w/ Adula's Moonblade in offhand and that Bastard stars special strike with a Moonblade triple slash followup is amazing in PvE, but I'm still testing it in NG1 and probably in NG2.

Rock sling is one of my favorite spells in the game have been using it since the beginning and till the endgame.

Very solid list. I personally prefer crystal torrent over Azur. It uses less fp, takes one slot and tracks enemies to some extent. The less damage can easily be mitigated. That said Comet Azur is still good

Don’t sleep on Ancient Death Rancor. It is subpar against some enemies but absolutely insane against so many others. It gets around a lot of the input reading, it has good tracking, you can charge it (so, Godfrey Icon pumps it up), and the damage is really strong. The enemies it is good against are a lot of the good ones (Malenia, Fire Giant, etc.). All your picks were good, but this deserved to be in the mix for sure.

Magma shot carried me through most of my first playthrough. Though Crystal Barrage dealt with Fire Giant. I even first tried the godskin duo with magma shot

I am happy to see both Ranni's Darkmoon and Glintstone Icecrag on your list, especially the Icecrag at the 4th place. Icecrag has been the default spamming attack on my pure INT character, and I couldn't go back to any other low-cost spammable Glintstone spells, lol.

However, I am saddened that Adula's Moonblade didn't make it on your list. It has been my go-to spell against any mob of fodders (or against anything that flips around all over the place like a ninja) on my pure INT character, and I've never been let down by it.

I think Glintstone Pebble is best spell and for pvp Carian Phalax. Comet Azur has very high potential but it is hard to hit sometimes. I also like Rennalas full moon spam if enemy boss move very fast. But I could pretty much play with using nothing else than Pebble and Phalax, they are just awesome.

Hoping for more interesting magma sorceries in the DLC. Maybe even an equivalent to the fire fan from DkS3; if it isn't an incantation.

Oh; and we still need a catalyst sword for a proper spellsword build.

Night Comet is so busted it actually makes a pure caster build incredibly *boring.* Potent, but boring. You basically use it for everything, Rock Sling for enemies that demand physical damage, and Comet Azur when you can.

I actually have a system where I play each class strictly by how they're designed as presets, so that means for example if a class starts with 16 Vigor, 15 Str, 13 Dex and 12 Endurance, then I level 6 Vigor, 5 Str, 3 Dex and 2 Endurance per "cycle." Basically, only stats starting above 10 get leveled. (only exception being if no alternatives remain or the above 10 stats have already hit the soft caps, then the next highest is leveled)

Well, for this system, Astrologer has no Vigor. Big problem right? That's a challenge run!

Well, no. Thusfar, Astrologer feels like the 2nd easiest character behind Hero. (STR build with good Endurance, Vigor and some arcane for bleed) Legit just shoot things from a safe distance and they die before anything realizes you're there.

EXTREMELY potent spell, but very monotonous when 90% of the time, the answer is "Night Comet, " and even the other 10% is reserved for just ~3 spells or so. Stars of Ruin can beat it on damage output, but is more expensive on FP whilst having weaker DPS on consecutive casts. (aka if Stars of Ruin takes of 95% of an enemy's HP, Night Comet will get 80%, but the second cast of Night Comet is faster and therefore still better)

a best sorcery list without glintstone pebble is automatically rigged, that spell is only 7 fp and does very solid damage, the tool to kill mobs from a distance (best damage per fp ratio at distance).
