I'll show you how to upgrade your 2 or 4 inch Ford F-150 or Super Duty instrument cluster to the 8 inch lariat information display. For this project you will need a scan tool and will need to download a free program called Forscan onto a Windows PC. I've put some options below. (Paid Amazon Links)

Will also need extended license (Instructions are on download page)

I love how pretty much whole dash is 7 mm. Makes it so easy to work on

After watching this, I decided to try my hand at upgrading the basic instrument cluster in my 2018 F150. I found my 18-year-old Toshiba laptop (Windows 7), charged it up, installed FORScan, and ordered an OBDLink adapter from Amazon. I picked up a used instrument cluster from Ebay. When it arrives, I'll give this a shot and update this post. Thanks for the clear and informative video.

Just programmed and installed in less than 30mins.
So easy thanks to you, the XL Peasant Saga upgrade continues….

Sync 1—->3 + wiring tailgate camera running under through the truck into the radio is next.

That’s definitely gonna be interesting…. wish me luck.

Love this channel btw

This is a great place to have accurate and precise information, thanks for that. The only question I have is, once the original data is downloaded and flashed back to the new cluster, is the VIN # carry over to the new cluster?

Great video. I plan on doing this swap and was wondering if you had or knew where to find a step by step guide for doing the forscan part? It seems like there are a lot of options to go through in forscan and I would like to print of step by step instructions.

I'm looking for the video that shows you how to upgrade from 4 to 8 inch or 2 to 8 inch.On a 2018 F150 standard.Like you haven't your video with the white truck.I see the complete. And after you've completed it, I need to see the video while you're doing it.Thank you

I noticed you saved the module configuration as built. I've made previous changes prior and want to save them and write them to the new cluster. Would I save ipc module configuration current Not the as built one ?

I will be doing this, this week. How difficult is it to activate the trailer brake module too?

I have a 2020 F250 XL 6.2L and I’ve found lots of these instrument clusters they are either diesel or 6.7L. Would these work on my truck?

Can you just have the lariat cluster or can a king ranch cluster go in and in what order should I buy the things to set this all up

Great video. Do you know if I have to get an instrument cluster from a 5.0L to have the correct gauges at the top?

So this is cool at the same time now I wonder buying used if someone put a cluster in the truck with less miles than it really has. You could have just left it but you didn’t. That seems insane to me that it’s stored in the cluster and not the car computer
