correction, Algeria, at that date, wasn't a colony. It was an actual part of France.
That's why some call the following "conflict" between France and Algeria a civil war since, you know, Algera was literally France at that point in time

3:42 - I don't think that should be surprising. People from Canada and Mexico can techincally just walk into the US. Most of the world has to fly to get to the US. I haven'y checked recently, but when I checked a couple of years ago 2 flights - to and from the US - would cost me my monthly salary.

2:45 I don't exactly know the age range of the people who asked if they've read a book in the past 12 months, but I do know that a part of the percentage could be from people still in school due to summer reading and in general having to read a book in English class.

Idk where people got that belief, but manoir (manor) and chateau (castle) are very distinct terms in French. The two 'types' of castles you may think you notice are just two different stage of the evolution of castles. More early castles were made primilarly for defense purposes. Then they moved the main tower to the center, expanded the windows, added a lot of features, refreshed the architecture, and as castles got used more and more for living and less for defending yourself, windows got larger, defenses got weaker, etc. But there's no switch, it's just the natural evolution of castles. Not just anything can be called a castle either. It has to fit the definition of the time it is built at.

4:07 It's the number of arrivals, not individual visitors, so it doesn't have to be 50% of the population. If the same person visited ten times it would still count as ten entries into the US by a Canadian.

I feel like there are some other reasons Germany, Italy, and Japan are in the top five for most US personal

9:23 So someone has to acknowledge the 10000 american troops stationed in Poland and around 2000 in the baltics. From what I can see the autor likely got their data from Wikipedia and no one should belive that uncritically.

I believe everyone in Vatican have read a book recently, at least parts of the Bible

14:14 I didn't expect Martinique there, though ig it makes sense, most young people leave for mainland France and in the older generations women don't drink as much as men, so it's pretty obvious more grandmas than grandpas are left behind.

4:46 You'd be surprised how many people from almost all of these countries come all the way to Montana. I like finding out where people who visit the museum I work at come from, and I keep a list of all the different countries. Except Canada. We get them so much that there's not much of a point.

UK is gray not because they aren't in the EU but because they couldn't read the survey questions to begin with

If you want to read a book for me it kinda worked to read in the evening before bed. especially if you usually scroll before falling asleep, try to read in that time instead. i think for me thats the easiest place to fit in reading (tho i still read much less than i'd want to)

PS: this sounds very cliche, but anyone who reads this, visit your local library, even if you dont end up picking anything up at least its often an interesting place.
they often also have other stuff than just books, eg. comic books, and the richer libraries might even have consoles with games, or even a VR headset

Regarding the men:women ratios in Europe, I wonder how much WW2 played into that, especially with how many soldiers were fighting on the eastern front and the high death toll the Soviet Union faced.

Also I did the numbers and all of them combined would be more people than Canada

14:46 I'm from Russia and I didn't expect to see my hometown (Yaroslavl) on this list. Now I don't wonder why I've only been to female dominant communities and still don't have a boyfriend
