Episode 12 | Vessel Schedule Explained

Показать описание
In order for you to plan your cargo and get it loaded on time, it’s important to have access to a reliable vessel schedule. In shipping, a vessel refers to anything that floats; and its schedule is the regularity with which it calls at a port. A ‘call’ in a schedule consists of Estimated Time of Arrival, Estimated Time of Berthing, and Estimated Time of Departure. Before a ship calls at a port, there’s a window—from Gate Open Time to Gate Close Time—where the shipper can bring the cargo into the terminal for loading later. In a vessel schedule, all these timings are listed so that the logistics supply chain industry can plan for shipments better. In the container line industry, the general norm is a fixed-day weekly call by a chain of vessels. In such a case, you can plan all your shipments well in advance. While some shipping lines stick to regular schedules, many follow ad hoc timelines. At Econship we don’t just provide default schedules, we average out past schedules of a particular operator’s vessel and create a new, more accurate schedule. This compiled schedule can be accessed directly on our website, to make planning your shipments that much easier.
