Thank you for this :) I really like this song, and it's the best translation I've seen. I have just a couple of suggestions for correction, though, since this is for learning purposes:

- "Ich wein' vor Glück" should be more like "cry with happiness" rather than luck. "Glück" means either luck or happiness depending on context, and I think it must be the latter in this case, because although he may feel lucky, crying with luck isn't really a thing that people say, whereas crying with joy/happiness is.
- "Hab' mir verboten zu glauben, dass es dich gibt" - I think this should be understood as being in the past, in the sense of "I banned/I forbade myself from believing", rather than the present, in the sense of "I've banned/I have forbidden myself". The latter doesn't really make sense, because it makes it sound like he is still banned from believing it now, when the narrative is actually saying "I wouldn't let myself believe that you existed, but now you're really here in my arms" (i.e. the disbelief has now been proved wrong).

I hope that makes sense and is useful. Music is an awesome and enjoyable way to learn German and it's great that you're uploading these videos to help people :) Weiter so!

Nach dem Schreiben ist mir eingefallen, dass Ihre muttersprache vielleicht Deutsch sein könnte, und das ist sie tatsächlich! Habe erst jetzt die Kanalbeschreibung gelesen, und war vorher davon ausgegangen, dass Ihre vertrautere Sprache wohl Englisch wäre. Ich hoffe, dass meine Erklärung trotzdem Sinn gemacht hat. Ich bin umso mehr beeindrückt von der Qualität dieser Übersetzung, wenn Englisch für Sie keine Muttersprache ist, denn es ist größtenteils ziemlich natürlich klingend :) Ich glaube, diese Unterschiede zwischen Vergangenheitsverben mit und ohne das Wort "have" müssen für Deutschsprachige einfach besonders knifflig sein, denn ich habe deutsche Freunden, die auch sehr gut Englisch können und trotzdem diese Fehler oft noch machen.

Zur weiteren Erklärung: Im Fall dieses Wort "banned" funktioniert es so: "I banned" heißt, dass es in der Vergangenheit war - das hat er sich mal verboten, aber jetzt ist es nicht mehr so. "I've banned" würde heißen, dass er diese Entscheidung gemacht hätte, und dass das auch noch in der Gegenwart bestehen würde; also er würde sich immer noch verbieten, das zu glauben, was im Kontext der nächsten Zeile des Liedes nicht wirklich passt.

Das Wort "forbade" habe ich übrigens nur erwähnt, weil es meines Erachtens besser passt, von den Nuancen der Bedeutung her, aber das ist wirklich nur eine Kleinigkeit, auf persönlicher Empfindung basiert. Für manchen würde es vielleicht etwas altmodisch klingen. Amerikanen würden dafür wohl "forbid" sagen, weil sie für bestimmte Verben das gleiche Wort für Gegenwart und Vergangenheit benutzen, wohingegen Englander (wie ich) solche Verben noch konjugieren. Die Bedeutung ist sowieso fast genau gleich, nur, dass "to forbid" irgendwie für mich besser klingt, im Kontext eines selbstverhängten, individuellen Zurückhaltens. "Banned" ist völlig in Ordnung, ich war nur im obsessiven Verbesserungsmodus verfallen :D

Jedenfalls war es interessant, darüber nachzudenken, und ich hoffe, Ihnen dadurch etwas Nützliches gegeben zu haben :) Natürlich freue ich mich auch immer, mein eigenes Deutsch zu üben, womit ich mir gegenüber diesen Riesenkommentar rechtfertige :D
