My aunt went to a vacation once and me and my family took care of her dog. (best boy, everyone loves him, even helped 2 neighbors (7 and 8 years old) overcome their fear of dogs) We went to a local river with him. We met another guy there, who also came with his dog. They immedieately started playing with each other, and the guy proceeded to explain to us how he found his dog at the street, abandoned, with a broken foot. He rushed her to the vet, which tomd him that she had c*ncer. He did everything he could to save her, took her home, fed her and took care of her every day, and in total spent over 2000€( like 1/3 of the average yearly salary in my country) to heal her even though he could've bought a dog like her(a black labrador) for way less. The dog is now healthy and lives a happy life with a great owner who saved her from d*ing in the streets. She also really likes swimming in that river.

That niece is basically how a normal child reacts to all those what mainstream calls "abnormal" or "unnatural" or whatever.They literally do not care. They operate on the frequency they can understand. So yeah, amount of pillows will rate higher on a kid's priority list then two men living together (especially if they both love her).

Those silent experiences with your parents are the best, my dad woke me up at 3am on time to just go on a drive. Very few words said. Got home at 4:30 he gave me a hug said “I needed this more then you know” called me out of school and he called out of work the next morning and we went to ihop, the movies and the arcade. My dad later told me that night the divorce with my mom was finalized that night, he just needed someone.

Idk why so many comments focusing on the niece part. Like who gaf, kids by default don’t care- kids aren’t born homophobic, they don’t need it explained to them as if it’s anything special or different. Hate is taught.
