My old clan leader won a KV-220-2 beta test tank on the NA server from a radio promotion right after World of Tanks first released. For a very long time, he was one of the only people on NA to have this tank.

The KV-220-2 is one of those rare tanks that is both absolutely OP and absolutely joyless to play.

Just FYI the style for this tank is exclusive to it because it's a play on the tank's name. The style is meant to make the tank look like an electrical transformer, because the tank's name implies "220 Kilovolt"

KV 220 is only strong against new players without knowledge about it, experienced players know they can just shot at the turret without bigger problems. Sad to see how great a noob trap of a tank works at T5

I could be wrong, but I believe the first time the KV-220 was released commercially was in 2013. I bought a bundle back in December 2013 for $80, and it came with the KV-220, a KV-5, and an IS-6. At the time, I only played for less than a year, and the three tanks helped me get a feel for a variety of playstyles. The KV-5 still is tough for me, but the IS-6 became a favorite at tier 8. It was a great tank until power creep nerfed it to oblivion. As for the KV-220, to this day, it remains my most-played tank... with over 350 battles in it. It was outrageously OP back in the day, just because so many people would auto-aim at the hull and bounce. These days, you hardly see them anymore. Sure, it can work in certain situations, but majority of people know how to handle it now, so it isn't as dominating as it once was. I barely play it anymore, because the majority of the playerbase focuses on tiers 7-10 since 2019/2020. HE nerfs in 2021 also didn't help tier 4-6 popularity either. Granted, this is from an NA player's perspective, so it probably is very different on the EU servers.

I picked up 11 kills back when it was the KV-220, I think I still have the replay and I did upload my 11 kills a long tile ago, they did have it available for free for new players one time.

I've had this one for several years, but just haven't played it because I enjoy playing my mediums for the most part. However, on this go at Battle Pass, I've been playing Heavy tanks exclusively and may have to give it a go. Thanks QB.
