As an "artist/ wannabe producer", I dropped PT and shifted to Reaper about 15 years ago for stability, reliability and price
Nothing here makes me regret that change.

Almost died laughing at those synth and drum sounds. Appreciate the effort!

I would like to congratulate AVID for upgrading their DAW from about 1996 level to about 1999 level. Within a year or two, they will have caught up to where Cubase was in 2001, if they innovate at this new improved pace.

Only Mitch could make me watch a video on PT in 2022.

I switched from pro tools to studio one over 10 yrs ago and haven't looked back. I can't even fathom going back to pro tools, the couple of times I checked into pro tools, it was like going back into time.

I really hope avid reads all these comments, I was thinking about switching to pro tools since I’ve been doing more professional work. But after reading the comments here I’m just gonna stick with ableton and studio one, pro tools just costs way too much money for what is offered. The only reason I would buy pro tools is because everyone else uses it and says it has the best audio quality. But like, if I listen to songs that were mixed in other DAW’s I can’t tell the difference. The industry needs to grow up and let everyone just use the DAW’s they want. Got a bit of topic lol, but thanks comments :)

The industry-standard, that sets absolutely no standards. They've done nothing to make the MIDI Editor better. I've been waiting for 15 years, for a piano roll for drums and editor, where I can name each key what I want, like Cubase does. I still use Perpetual PT, but 2021.6 was the last version I'll ever use. When the day comes to upgrade my hardware, I'll be moving on to something else.

I left Pro Tools when they took away the upgrade path from Pro Tools 8 in a "press release" that they buried in a newsletter about something completely unrelated, mid way through Pro Tools 11's life when I had no reason to expect it. Literally bought the upgrade two weeks after my eligibility had been quietly taken away, and support's response to me, an intern at the time, was to rebuy Pro Tools for $899. What a rancid company.

Avid is such an arrogant disaster - I've been on PT for 15 years, made the decision last November to pay for one more maintenance cycle while spending the year transitioning to Reaper. Not disappointed - among other things, my full Reaper sessions are up and running in the time it takes for PT to figure out the iLok and start initializing.

I've been using Pro Tools professionally since 2010.
What will never cease to amuse is how Avid will charge a premium for what is stock standard in other DAWS 😂

All these comments make me feel so glad that I saw through the Pro Tools ruse more than 15 years ago and jumped ship after drinking the "industry standard" Kool-aid. I've been on Logic ever since; and while it has its flaws, it's never made me feel like punching holes in walls like Pro Tools did. And I remember finding out about Logic's custom key commands when I started in v. 7... it was (and so many other things were) a revelation after slogging through Pro Tools. And now... in 2022... OH WOW PRO TOOLS HAS CUSTOM KEY COMMANDS! REVOLUTIONARY!

I really can’t imagine why anyone would want to use Pro Tools if they weren’t forced to, just because it’s the standard (as in it was the first DAW to find its footing 30 years ago) but MAN does it suck using it and paying SO MUCH for it

The fact that Pro Tools, which has been entrenched in the industry for decades now, is about 10 years behind Steinberg in terms of features and functionality is a disgrace considering the cost. Avid are trading on a legacy, and short changing their customers in the process. I reluctantly went from PT12 BACK to Steinberg after many years. No platform is perfect, but honestly...you're only implementing custom Key Commands after 33 years, and calling it a selling point? And forcing HDX users, which is MOST studios, into the higher price bracket?

I hope the following generation who used at least 2 different DAWs will show AVID its place when the time comes.

It blows me away that this late in the game, PT is still the only major sequencer without logarithmic automation curves.

Oh boy they brought back pro tools le ! 🤣
Back in 2006 I only had 32 tracks in pro tools.

He knows Pro Tools isn’t that good. You can tell he just wants to cry, but that Avid money is too good. It’s good if you’re just recording and editing, but those updates don’t even bring it close to its competitors.

Love Protools, hate the subscription garbage! Hate not owning my own software. Which is why I stayed on PT 12 and haven't left.
