2014 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring Test Drive Video Review

There are 3 versions of the CX-5: Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring. Then you can opt for FWD or AWD versions. The model tested here is the top of the line Gran Touring AWD model that has a price of $29,070.

The 2.5 liter 4-cylinder SKYACTIV engine makes 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft. of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic. Much time was spent getting the drag coefficient down to a class leading 0.33. This combined with the fuel efficient powerplant helps the 2014 Mazda CX-5 get 24 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway. If you opt for the manual 2.0 liter then you could get as much as 35 MPG on the highway.

The interior is handsomely fitted with black leather upholstery and a steering wheel with integrated controls. The front seats are power adjustable and have 3-way heating. The 9-speaker BOSE stereo has all the bells and whistles.

Automatic gearboxes that Mazda use on CX5 and 6 is awesome. Fast and effecient.

I think I love everything about the CX-5 except for that little navi screen.  I feel the same way about the Mazda6.  Very beautiful car but it too has that pocket size screen.  I'm not saying Mazda should go the route they've gone with the Mazda3 (weirdly stuck on the dash) but something bigger and better integrated would be nice.   .

It has a good looking profile but at other angles looks to mini vanish. It also feels like a mini van not like a suv. Almost bought one but felt to minivanish. Doors are bigger than they look.
