Things GTA 4 did well:
-Comedy (humurous characters and cutscenes)
-Character
-Friends (Actually cared about going out for drinks or bowling etc...)
-Mood (Darken mood for a dark character and a deep story)
-Choices (Choices that impacted the main story i.e.-Executions)
-Random Events (Finding people from Niko's past)
-Random Events (Findng new people of Liberty City)
-Random Events (Finding the people you left alive in the choices)
-Immersion (I actually felt immersed in the city. I would often just sit in the couch watching TV)
-The Stand up Comedy show (Split sides) It was awesome!!!
-Story (A great story with different outcomes, different plots, twists, and overall great writting)
-Dating (It was fun to pick a girlfriend from the websites and go on dates)
-Emails (The emails Niko received AND sent were awesome and meaningful AND you could see him writing it them)
-Cyber Cafes (It was cool to actually have to go to an internet cafe to check the email AND visit that girl that worked there :)
-Meaningful dates (Going out with girls OR friends was always awesome and had interesting conversation topics)
-Meaningful dates (The people were different and so it was always interesting to hear from them and their stories)
-Cool places (Going out the bro's or with the GF was always awesome, there were always cool places to visit like:
- Restaurants (Characters would comment on if they liked the place or not)
- Bowling (Bowling was a fun minigame especially to share with the company)
- Pool (Pool is another great minigame to play with the bros)
- Comedy show & Cabaret club (these were AMAZING to go to and see a show!!! Funny & interesting)


There are many things that GTA 4 did very well, these things I pointed above are NOWHERE TO BE SEEN in GTA 5 which is a shame. Obviously GTA 5 has "friends" and "comedy" but not like GTA 4 did.
Even though GTA 5 is a great game and much more fun to play (open world etc) it will never have the impact (emotional, immersive, etc) that GTA 4 has.
For instance... I could give a fuck about Michael, Trevor or Franklin... And much less of Lamar... Ron... Wade... etc. 
However I LOVED Niko bellic, Patrick McReary, Little Jacob, Dwayne, Kate, Gerry, Derrick, Roman, Brucie, Michelle, etc.etc.etc.. So much that I actually SHITTED myself when I saw Packie was in GTA 5.
I respect and love GTA 5, including all the work that was put into making it be a masterpiece BUT I get a little mad and annoyed at why Rockstar didn't grab those good things in GTA 4 and brough them to GTA 5...
This makes GTA 5 a great journey with awesome missions and great fun to be had but not much else... 
In a few years I will still remember the story and characters AND feeling of when I played GTA 4 but as for GTA 5 I will probably only remember the protagonists and not much else.

I really miss that little stomach ache i felt in school when GTA 4 came to my mind. It was one of my first video games which i played in a considerable young age and i'll always think of it as the best game i played in my life.

Hope the next GTA will be darker again with the awesome ragdoll and carphysics. GTA 4 was just amazing.

GTA IV had the:
*Best Story*
*Best Physics*
*Everything is realistic*
But the ending was very sad for. In both the options Niko doesn't get any happy ending.
Also waiting for the new steam version of GTA IV

By today's standards GTA V is overrated and GTA IV is underrated.
