Matière Première Radical Rose - real world fragrance review

In this video, I explore Matière Première Radical Rose, a fragrance that takes the iconic rose to daring new heights while honoring the traditional perfumery of Grasse, the heart of French fragrance. Radical Rose is a striking composition that opens with an intense burst of Rosa centifolia absolute , balanced by the warmth of saffron and a hint of spicy pepper. As it unfolds, earthy patchouli and woody notes create a rich, deep backdrop, giving the rose an unexpected, bold twist. I'll dive into its exceptional longevity, sillage, and how it transforms on the skin, making it a perfect choice for those who appreciate a modern, fearless take on a classic floral scent.

Thank you for running this channel. It stands out from others, which often just read off a breakdown of fragrance notes from Fragrantica. Your reviews are different – expressive and practical. I’m part of that group of men who appreciates the scent of rose on themselves. I have Toy Boy from Moschino and Rose Magnetic from Essential Parfums. I’m planning to buy L’Autre Oud from Maison Lancome. Do you know it? If so, would Radical Rose be redundant, or is it noticeably different and would broaden the palette of rose scents in my collection?

I am also looking to add one more rose fragrance, so your videos are extremely helpful. I've been wearing Radical Rose for about a week and I have a different opinion than yours. It seems my skin amplifies the vanilla, to the point that it takes a turn for sugar-coated rose candies. POAL is far more expensive, yes but the balance Ropion achieved between rose and patchouli is unbeatable, dry and dusty but not too dry or too dusty. If you have any suggestion on what I should try, I appreciate your inputs. And if you are patient enough, you should see FM appears on discounted-site: some are already selling them.

Funny you mention Versace Eros towards the end - Aurrilen Guilchard is the perfumer of Eros too!

I'm eager to eventually get into this house. I have heard a lot of great things about them. Ecens Suave, Radical Rose, and Crystal Saffron all sound really good to me.

Just ordered Radical Rose (150 bucks for 100ml) baes on your review. Can't wait to compare it to my decant of POAL.
Btw, still wait on your "perfect rose" video ;)

Good that you got it. I do get comparisation with POAL, however, this is way more versatile. I would never wear POAL in the warm weather, as the patchouli note is too dark. Imo Les Indemodables cannot be compared to Matiere Premiere. Aurilen Guilchard is one of the best perfumes in the world, and yes, indemodables are a bit more complexed fragrances, but i find them unbelievably overpriced regarding their performance, yet to find other than vanille havane which actually projects of my skin. I find les indemodables more similar to BDK, as they are both skin scents

Aaron Terrence Hughes really encourage me to explore Rose fragrances and the first one I really fell in love with was Amazonian Rose by Carolina Herrera. That is a nuclear bomb of rose, a bit synthetic but very unique and wonderful. The other one that we love, more so my girlfriend because it’s like the white rose from her grandmother‘s garden is Rose Tonnerre by Frederick Malle. I do like this brand and I’ve got Crystol saffron which is hard to explain but I love how antisocial it can be. When I wear it it usually makes people in the room sneeze but you definitely stand out and it’s worth checking.

I remember appreciating the centifolia in this one. Like you said, it was on the dry side for me too. Kinda basic as a rose though so it wasn't my fav from the sample kit, but it was still better than Falcon Leather and Bois d'Ebene. Another solid review!

Need to try this as I look to upgrade my toy boy bottle to something more interesting.. My rose perfume search is a bit more difficult because my wife absolutely despises rose! The comment “ if you like Versace eros or PDM “ made me laugh 😂 a bit harsh on PDM, they’re just a French version of xerjoff. A bit designer, a bit repetitive and lacking character. Sheep in wolves clothes if you like.

Try Persian rose by insider parfums from UK. Better than radical rose in my view and only £95 for 50ml.

Having owned the entire original line. Radical Rose is beautiful but the base DNA makes the perfume push identically thru its life on skin. No change as you said ( mid ). It irritated me and actually made me nauseous. The only one from the line that was daily wearable was Parisian Musc and neroli oranger.

We visited his rose fields this summer.

I got a full 50ml bottle off eBay for £75 last week. I like the fragrance but doesn't blow me away and has poor performance. No idea why it's called radical rose. What's radical about it???

Radical Rose for men, and Damarose for woman. They are very similar

To me this is kind of horrible. Reminds me of Rose Jam by Lush and that was the worst rose perfume i tried 😢
