This band has always been so underrated! It's hard to believe that they were like 21 and 20 years old when they recorded this gem!!!

If people don't move to this song, then they must be dead. I loved growing up in this era!! Thanks and peace!

Another of those three man bands that really rock with just the simple basics Electric Guitar and Bass and drummer. All three must be Damn Good or it may not work to make you a success.

Where you gonna see a performance like this today? The 60's and 70's were just insane!

Drummer Don Brewer gets a lot done on a simple kit. Kick Bass, Snare, 13" Tom, 18" floor Tom Ride - Crash Cymbals, High-Hat

Grand Funk Railroad is a great American rock band from the 70's. "I'm Your Captain (Closer to Home)" is one of my favorites. But they had a lot of great hits such as "Some Kind Of Wonderful", "We're An American Band", "The Loco-Motion", "Walk Like A Man", "Shinin' On", "Bad Time" etc.

the song started out as " Rosie -Chas Chandler & Eric Burdon changed it to 'Inside lookin out "in 1966 and Grand funk took it and put more energy into it

All three men .. Mark, Mel and Don .. were each blessed w/a tremendous amount of God given talent. However .. w/every passing moment, I find myself even more infatuated w/Don's drum skills. The stamina it took for him to play @ that level and maintain a cohesive rhythm with his band mates for 9.5 minutes is remarkable.

Unbelievable sound coming from a three man band 55 years ago. The were the most popular live band across the globe fro 1969 - 1975 selling out everywhere and the loudest as well.

Grand Funk Railroad was a great band from the late 60s to the mid 70s. Mark Farner, who still sounds good in concert, is one of the greatest front men of all time. He’s the lead singer/guitar player/harmonica player in this video. I recommend Heartbreaker 1974 by them next. It’s also live.

Wow, I remember them performing this back in 1969.

this might be my all time favorite rock song. I didn't know who sang as a kid, I spent years looking. I had only really heard "Im your captain" and "some kind of wonderful" by gfr so I ASSUMED it was a different band. Boy oh boy was I wrong.
What a fantastic "garage" band.

The crazy thing is that they played with this intensity on every song, for three hours a night.

Hi. Loved your reaction. Basplayer was 18, drummer 19 and Lead singer and guitarist was 21. They got fired as a starter for Led Zeppelin because they were to good, and I don’t blame them. What band would want an starting act like this power trio??

the solo at around 5.56 has to be one of greatest!! the song constantly changes slows then speeds up keeping you in!!

Saw them in Shea Stadium and the opening band was Humble Pie. Talk about a kick ass concert.
