Or for some extra flavour. Let them become a mechanical Ruin elemental, which is already a giant swarm of insects. Everytime it moves, you can hear buzz saws screeching over metal.

Nice! I used this monster in my campaign too. With few addition xD

Basically they're aggresively pillage everything around the perimeter of their base to self-replicate.

One clockwork will serve as "Commander" and has its size upped to large. It will issue commands telepathically and can even commands the dying unit to self-destruct.

If the commander is defeated, the rest of the clockwork will scatter away and retreat hastily.
