From what I understood, shorts were to get channels easy exposure, and long format videos were to make ad revenue and sponsorship deals. I'm no YouTuber though, that's just what I thought.

For everyone who doesn’t know, YouTube shorts are monetized way lower than regular YouTube videos. Socialblade gives estimates for long for videos and if they did make long form videos they would get that money socialblade estimated. For 158M views on long form videos they would make a LOT of money.

That’s because YouTubes algorithm is designed for shorts to draw people in. Funneling shorts traffic to your main vid channel.
