I got my SL4 pro last week and what a bike it is. Unfortunately it was damaged (seat post and front hub) in delivery and, being the last of it's size, I was unable to get a replacement. However Specialized quickly sent me a new seat post and took my wheel back to be rebuilt. Great service and a phenomenal machine! :D

@roadglide You might be suprised to know that Merida is the world's largest manufacturer of bikes, they make them for almost everyone - including Giant! Specialized however do all their own "performance" bikes, mountain and road - anything you'd expect to be put through its paces. Their life time warranty extends to all the Chinese bikes even of Merida origin and your still getting the big "S" R&D to deliver the ride quality you pay for.

@Eurofighter2499 you are lucky, my frame is cracked at the seat clamp and Specialized South Africa refuse to replace the frame. I regret ever buying a Specialized. Should have stayed with Cervelo

So who manufactures Speciaized bikes?

Just read in Velonews page84 of the August 2011 edition that Merida, a bicycle manufacturing company which has a strong presence in Europe actually makes some of the frames for Specialized. But which frames for what bikes? It better not be the the high priced Tarmac's and Venges. Any one know...read the article first. Then sound off.

Also noteworthy...Giant makes some of the bikes for Trek, also written in the same article.

No Fair! If your roads constantly go up and down in a big way - you'll love the responsiveness and nimble Tarmac - If you prefer to hold high speed however... the Venge is damn quick.

every year they give it a new name but it's still the same as the sl2

This is why I stopped buying American frame, I just can't keep up with the model/year. They release new model nearly every year. Don't get me wrong, they do make sexy and awesome frame. But why can't they make frames that last and age beatifully like european frame. Bring back the old S-Works SL2 concept that would last for few years!!!
