Weber in Adlon, 1925 ! Argentine tango 'Julian'.

"The famous Marek Weber and his Adlon-Orchestra" says the label of the record (3:05 !). Actually, Marek Weber at the peak of his popularity in the middle of the 1920's was offered an engagement by one of the most exquisite hotels in Berlin - Adlon, where he played, as it is stipulated in the leaf-let which is starting the video. At the same time, he was offered a proposal of the Grammophon company to record a series of recordings, still in an acoustic mode, for the export label of Polydor, which is shown at the end of the video.
Played acoustically on the 1932 Electrola grammophon.

Tango "Julian" composed in 1922 by Edgardo Donato, violinist, leader and composer (1897 - 1963), born in Buenos Aires, raised up and musically educated in Montevideo.

Marek Weber recordings for Polydor are really something very special. It looks like Hotel Adlon itself made such an order in that phonographic company.

It is perplexingly clear indeed, since you confirm it is acoustical. If I didn't have absolute trust in your assessment, I would never have believed it :-)

At the same time, Efim Schachmeister and Paul Godwin appeared on those colorful labels of acoustic Polydor's but they always belonged to that company whereas Weber appears to have been there only as a special guest.

This record was recorded electrically though, but playback is acoustical on this gramophone without electrical amplification. Still, sound reproduction on these devices was stunningly good :-)

I am sure about acoustic technique: is better heard if listened to electrical(!) reproduction. Type of the label, shellac, and the pressing edge say the same. And this is also interesting ! :

"Die elektrischen Aufnahmen der Grammophon ab 1925 schwanken in der Tonqualität erheblich. Nicht alle Aufnahmen sind ab diesem Zeitpunkt elektrisch, viele Platten aus diesem Zeitraum verwenden noch das akustische Aufnahmeverfahren".
