Firewalking is a purification ritual often performed in Japan in winter and spring. It's mostly commonly done by mountain ascetic hermits known as Yamabushi who were renowned in olden times for their spiritual prowess.

This event took place in Shingu, Wakayama as the follow up to their Oto Matsuri.

I know from experience that walking on fire is a profoundly spiritual cleansing experience. If the fire is prepared correctly, and you walk with the right intent in your heart, you will not burn your feet.

Love your videos.... they are amazing.
I must admit, I was a bit scared while they were handling the sword, and when they were walking close to the flames. Nevertheless I find it very interesting.
