My jaw dropped when I found out that we can actually do financing in this game. That extra vision range trick is kinda neat too.

So funny that I’m actually enjoy these videos more than I enjoy the game. Serious trivia must be an entertaining college professor for his day job.
Btw serious, just curious what do you feel about koei’s romance or the three kingdom series?

Going for a small all-cav army can be really great for getting in the back line. If you go down the range cav line, you just need one general with reach and one strategist to make this strategy useful. Hire a mix of melee and shock for first general and bow cav for strategist. Now take that army and attack only minor settlements while your main army goes for the capital. Another benefit is that the heavy bow cav tech increases move range by additional 15 percent. An all cav army with reach and this tech has a whopping 3240 campaign movement range! This is the way that I fight short decisive wars over territory before suing for peace and recalling. It’s especially good for conquering commanderies where the minor settlements are quite spaced out.

Thanks for the series! I find that I get more out of your tutorials after having spent 200+ hours in the game to familiarise myself with all the UI and mechanics. When I first started TW3K and looked up tutorials on youtube, most of the time, I didn't know what was going on and what they were talking about. Same for other TW series tutorials. So for others: if you totally new to the game, you should watch his Let's plays rather than these tutorials, you will learn more out of it.

Retinue force on Buy is 0.2 (1/5) usually ( mercenary, captain retinues and imperial is dif if i recall correctly). Btw, mustering turns bonus reduce it (green icon to the right of the green + icon), some techs/traits improves it, wich is usually overlook (the less turns it takes to fully replenish, the less money You are wasting). Replenish does not affect mustering turns afaik (green plus icon). This is why it's almost never a good idea to recall an imperial army (unless you need to move it to the other side of the map, or You don't need it anymore).

Wow I didn't know about the loan feature, and I've been playing this game since day 1 lol. Do note however that unit campaign movement range is not dependable on their speed but on a hidden stat called "Campaign Movement Range", I know very original. Anyway according to the numbers in the database, the base stat for cavalry (which includes generals) is 2400 while the slowest units are siege equipment at 1200. (EDIT) I think you should have shown the end turn sequence so players can know that they can change the speed settings from the menu button that appears on top

One way to get around that have the reach general command until you actually want to engage in battle. Simply switch back to the commander as the commanding general for the formations, then engage in battle.

Awesome series, this is just the kind of deep tutorial I was looking for to get into this game.

One question. I noticed that Cao Ren is now a Legendary Commander, and not a Sentinel as he was in your tutorial campaign. As I didn't have any Sentinel chars, I set him up with the Tax Collection assignment. How would you now approach this scenario with these new changes?

Hello i have a question that you ( or someone else here ) can maybe answer it for me.

Do factionwide bonuses stack ? Like let's say you are the emperor and you have Ma Chao, Gongsun Zan and Lü Bu in your court. They all have bonuses to shock cavalry like charge bonus, recruitment cost and armor. Do these stack with each other ?

Great video btw. Again learned something :)

Started watching your content recently and really enjoying it! I know you'll be busy with this series for a while but I was wondering if you'd thought about doing a tutorial on how to transition to playing on legendary mode? I want a bigger challenge than v hard but I'm the loss of pause etc. is pretty intimidating and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way!

There is one great time when you want to loot and occupy. It's when you are deep in enemy territory. And you need to replenish you troops but can't hold the settlement. And as a added bonus it's like free money for a few turns. You loot/occupy rest up. Then leave when you need. You don't care if it downgrades it or not because your not using it for long term anyway. It's a short term solution to specific situation tactically. Basically loot/occupy when deep in enemy territory and are on the move. gg

Color coding seems to only be important for Han characters. Nanman and bandit generals don’t give any buffs based on specific unit types.

I have a campaign using a cheat/trainer just to enjoy running around with full stacks of armies and steam roll over every one.

The best way to describe Cao Cao's unique shock cav is the Cold One Knights and Cold One Dread Knights from WH2. They are slow, but they are heavy and have better melee stats than lighter variants. So, like those WH2 units, in campaign, they do not make much sense to use at their cost, as lighter shock cav do the trick. In multiplayer battles, they are very deadly, specifically when enemy cav try to engage your missile/melee units and you cut them off with these heavy cav units. After that happens, the melee units of the enemy should be close, so they should still have enough health to engage them. Hence, they are not meant to travel long/wide but short around your own units.

if im correct on that vision trick while its very useful it might reduce replenishment bonus by being garrisoned

Is the garrison units engine capped to be no more than 14? Or is it just a balancing decision on CA's part

Regarding retinue and colors. Cao Cao is yellow as you mentioned, so he's better with yellow units such as the cavalry. Do the units within the retinue need to stay close to him on the battlefield to get some sort of buff?
