Theres a reason he used the lotus Elise as an example because it doesnt have any driver assistance its just an engine, 3 pedals, and a steering wheel.

I disagree with his skill argument. A lot of new ice cars that do the same thing, turn on launch control and floor it and the computer does everything for you.

I had this stupid idea the other day, keep the EV acceleration but also keep a v6 in it for sound and to constantly recharge the battery lol

I get what he's saying, but skill is NOT the right word

I'm guessing he's talking about the model s plaid because the roaster wasn't fast and it never made fake engine noises. Here is a list of every electric car that simulates an engine: BMW IX, Audi e-tron, Porsche taycan, Hyundai Ioniq 5N which makes engine noises and has a gear shifter and ev6 does the same. So there are plenty of EVs that do that not to mention the EVs on this list are faster than any gasoline muscle car

It’s going full circle. Not many people know electric cars were invented before ICE vehicles.

So don't buy an ev, simple lol. I'll never understand why people complain about the dumbest shit 🤦🏾

FALSE, this is FAKE NEWS.
men & women who RACE Teslas professionally, and for FUN, love the Tesla model S, X, 3, Y, and Cybertruck for RACING of all kinds.
model X PLAID is Worlds fastest SUV on Earth.

You don't need a Lotus Elise for that. I can do the same with my 2004 Xsara Picasso.

A Tesla plaid/roadster is like going to Hawaii for vacation, but you’re 90% blind and deaf. Sure you’re there; but you’re not really experiencing the Beauty.

Launching a BMW or MB 0-60 in 4-seconds it’s more exciting that Tesla in 2 seconds. The sound and feeling of the vehicle.

Thats all fine, 100% of the population needs clean reliable transportation to and from work, EVs full this role and make life easier and cheeper.

Allot of people don’t have skills to even drive safely

Lots of ICE cars have also help on launch control and the 370z is even faster with automatic shifts (I believe the GT-R also does that).
Also, for ICE, what's the skill involved in going fast in straight line? It's like 75% the engine. A decent driver just needs to do a test run 3 or 4 times to get the shift points and he's ready to race

So, why does every single supercar have launch mode? Why are semi automatic dual clutch transmissions that rev match, the norm? Reality slapped his argument down.

I honestly don't really care for sound

He’s right. Hopped in a m5 manual the other day and I was genuinely scared. I am not a “real” driver and just hopping in that proved it to me. And I have gotten into plaids like they are go carts. 🛒

I honestly agree with the skill thing, I know how to drive automatic U-Haul/ penske trucks, motorcycles, etc but rn I'm on day 2 of learning how to drive standard and fuck me I never wanna go back to a automatic it's to cool and personalized I can actually feel the car more and now I have actually control of the gears n shit

With EV’s there’s no qualities to be passionate ABOUT. That’s the fundamental flaw. Like them or hate them that’s undeniable.

The emotion that comes from the sound and power delivery from a gasoline engine will be hard to replace.

I have been a mechanic for more than 50 years and I hate the sound of a 1000 parts wearing out.
