A Little Update - Why I Downsized My Collection

As you can see from my explanation in the video, there is no deep reasoning behind me having to downsize my collection a little bit and hold back on buying new releases. It's really not serious at all, but I hope everyone understands. I want to keep posting content for you guys to make up for the lack of unboxings that will appear in the future. I still feel like there's a lot now but I feel like it will become less and less as time goes by. Hopefully everyone will be okay with different types of vids from me :D

Love you all!! :))

Thanks for watching~

i can clearly see why you downsized your collection. i hope everyone knows that you can be a fan without collecting *everything* from them and you don’t need to buy every single version of an album to be a real ‘fan’. you can just be a fan by enjoying their music / streaming their music & supporting them. i’ll still support you since i find your videos really therapeutic and calming❤️❤️

I understand wholeheartedly, companies need to slow down with the amount of versions of a single album. I started stanning NCT when their releases were limited to one or two version so i started a collection since i adore their music, however, SM has gotten insane with versions and pc’s. I limited myself to Taeil, then to only NCT 127 and now to only a couple versions because it’s unsustainable to me. I loved having a complete collection but after NCT 2020 and the insane amount of versions i got overwhelmed.

you’re a normal person with a budget just like the rest of us so it’s completely understandable, i am doing the same thing with my collection at the moment too!

honestly its totally normal, sometimes i get stresessed over how much i paid for what little albums i have...have you considered doing like a monthly podccast style, or even sit down video just talking about comebacks etc? you dont have to unbox albums i bet a lot of ppl would still wanna watch to share opinions

im actually happy to see you starting to priortise yourself and your reality more because im sure that collecting albums is one of the most satisfying thing a teenage or young adult will do but as we enter adulthood, esp since u moved out, money is a huge problem and collecting albums will hinder alot of chances where u get to find a better apartment to live in. I definitely understand the storage issues as well and im glad you start drawing lines becuz some ppl just collect for the sake of collecting, even if the prices are insane. People always said to fangirl rationally and im happy to see you making steps for yourself while trying to keep this habit, hopefully u will achieve ur wish to move out soon and when u are financially independent again, more space in ur own apartment, u can always bring the passion in 👍👍👍

It's your collection and your life, no worries! ♥️ Have fun doing what you want to do. The most important thing is to feel well in your room and in your personal space! ♥️♥️

Definitely understand your struggle, Katie. Collecting physical albums just take too much space, plus I move kinda frequently so it's a little hassle to put everything in boxes and shipping to move it from plot A to Plot B can be costly too. Sometimes I don't even buy the albums and just purchase the photocards.

I love how she took the time to explain even though she doesn’t need to give explanations. We love you Katie and it’s your decision <3

Sometimes it’s to downsize your collection because it can be overwhelming to collect so much from many groups

It's YOUR collection. Your collection, your rules. I will still watch all the stuff u post 💕 And I also have some weird stuff like: when I really wanna buy an album from a group that is not one of my ult groups, I buy my fav version of the album and on that version I HAVE TO HAVE everything from my bias.

The growing amount of versions for albums is lowkey painful lol. No one forces us to buy these albums but there's something to be said for how...incomplete it feels when you know you can't get every version. I totally get wanting to step back from trying to collect every little thing. And as much as I love how packed with content a thick album may be, they're kind of the bane of my kpop stan existence because of how they take up space.

That's why for me I only collect 1 version of each of my favs, cause I know myself that eventually I'm going to end up giving it away or end up not having room.

I feel you!! My friend calls me a “organized packrat” and it looks like a library in here too because of my huge collection, I have a couple shelves right now but I’ve definitely slowed down on buying them, and even sold a bunch!! Theres a lot of guilt that comes with it which is so weird? Not being able to buy every piece of merch that comes out feels horrible but I literally don’t have any more space!! I just read through the comments and realized a lot of us collectors are in the same position, which is common/normal and I’m glad more and more people are able to talk about this as well!
We would love to see other content from you too!!

I think a part two update will be nice! Where you show us like what you plan on keeping and what you will be downsizing/ selling, , if u are!

i honestly am getting annoyed with companies releasing more than 5 versions, i haven’t even completed at least monsta x’s recent releases but starship thought it would be fun to make the already existing 5 versions (4 standard albums and the kihno) to more than 10 versions (kihno, 4 standard, 5 jewel cases since shownu isn’t active, and a limited one). thankfully they did not do this for cravity and wonho so i can easily complete theirs when i get money.

hearing you speak about the tension between personal goals & collecting is definitely helping to reinforce the need/importance of reflection in my own buying/collecting practice. thank you!! ✨💖

Hi Katie! I was excited when you mentioned TXT Seventeen and NCT album unboxings will be up on your channel! Could you pls tell what will be the current groups you’d be collecting? Btw it’s a good decision to cut down on your collection to save money and just collect your top fav groups I wish you happy saving and happy collecting❤️

I'm not really a collector but I want to thank you for your unboxing videos because they made it possible for me to decide which of my favorite albums are really worth buying in physical form.
Wish you luck in downsizing of your collection and with your future plans!
Being in harmony in your space is very important and changes are absolutely normal.)
