Youtube knows exactly what they're doing and they know how to put the oldest video button back but don't want to because of ads.

Thank you. I'll try this. It is frustrating because the recently uploaded button is pointless. The most recently uploaded is always first anyway. I don't understand their thinking on that button. I love going back from oldest to newest on my regular channels that I watch to see how the person has improved along their channel journey. I have also found that some of the channels have lost their "search" buttons as well. I can't even search a specific thing on some of the channels. It's crazy. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I have also noticed that some of the channel recommendations I've been getting are so far off from what I watch that it doesn't make sense why it pops up. I've clicked the "not interested" button and I'll be damn if the same video doesn't come up again a few days later. I feel like I'm dealing with Facebook all over again.

Short answer: You can't. The only real way to do it is to
- Use YouTube Vanced or an older YouTube apk

Why does YouTube do this? They are hurting their platform even more. They already removed dislikes? What kind of people or business partners do they really want to impress

I love watching older vids of yt creators. It’s pure nostalgia and takes me a trip to memory lane. It also shows just how far these creators have come throughout the years. Why does yt keep doing this to make their users hate their platform more and more? 🤦🏽‍♂️

My theory is it's intentionally removed because the ad revenue on old videos may be much lower than more recent videos that have more active daily views. I have no idea if that's even true, but it wouldn't surprise me. It's like how prime time tv ads are much more expensive than 4am. Keep people where the money is. They're really making a lot of people want to find an alternative platform, with each passing year. I'm hoping this will go the way of MySpace. Thank you for the tip on the channel search.

It's not a complicated feature to implement, if video information is stored in a database, then it can be queried and displayed ordered by date in descending or ascending order. Yes, it's a huge application, but it's definitely not complicated to implement.

Thanks. When I find a new channel, I often like to watch the videos in oldest to newest order. Sometimes it makes more sense, especially if there is some reference to an older video.

Whoever was behind this idea to remove it, should first get promptly fired with no questions asked, get beaten up to a pulp and mugged on his way home, and then discover that his wife's been cheating on him all his life and that none of the children are actually his, and finally gain the permanent chronic illness of neverending diarrhea to accompany as a reward for that Big Brain moment of his.

I use Sort by oldest a lot, youtube have taken it away because a) its useful, and b) it probably cost them somehow someway.
