OnePlus 10T Review | Should I Go Pro?

Reviewing the OnePlus 10T 5G, from that simplified camera tech and serious gaming smarts to the battery life and OxygenOS experience. I've been testing the OnePlus 10T for a couple of weeks, using it as my full-time phone for around a week of that time, and here's my final verdict!

Check out my reviews of other 2022 smartphones including the Oppo Find X5 series, Xiaomi 12, Zenfone 9 and this handset's major rivals.

Advantages of the OnePlus 10T vs the 10 Pro include beefier performance, courtesy of the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. This means even smoother performance when smashing through Genshin Impact and other games, as well as improved efficiency. Battery life is certainly still strong despite the smaller 4800mAh cell, while charging has improved to insanely quick 150W.

However, the OnePlus 10T also sports several drawbacks. There's no alert slider for one, while the camera tech is now Nord 2T levels - i.e. a mid-range smartphone experience. It's also tricky to find any real USPs over other rivals, especially the Zenfone 9 which is compact, boasts the same great performance, has a capable camera and an actual headphone jack.

So are you tempted by the OnePlus 10T, or the OnePlus 10 Pro instead? Be great to hear your thoughts!

This phone is absolutely the fastest phone I ever used. And for $650 it's half the price as the so-called high-end phones. This phone takes great photos and it makes wireless charging and overnight charging obsolete. This is the future.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...take the Oneplus 7 Pro, throw in the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, 16 gb ram, 256/512 gb storage and call it the 7 Pro SE or 7 Pro 2022 edition and take my money...

To make a fair compare and contrast between the 10 Pro and the 10t I think it is safe to say there are a lot of trade-offs. Of course, I love the 8 plus gen 1 processor in the t variant and the option for 16 gigs of RAM. Then again, I think the 12 gigs of RAM available in the Pro variant is enough and there really isn't that much difference between the Gen 8 and the Gen 8 plus. My two biggest detractors about the T variant is the camera hole punch located in the center of the screen and the lack of the slide selector switch for the ringer. Still, the t variant has a flat screen which I actually prefer over the pro variance curved glass. It really makes it easier to protect the screen from damage and makes it easier to apply a tempered glass screen protector. Unfortunately, curved glass and tempered glass screen protectors don't always mix well. Ultimately, I recently purchased the 10 Pro variant for many reasons. I still think the 10t is a solid phone but, the pro variant just has more variety in my opinion. At the moment, I am using it as my personal phone and I have bumped over my 8T variant which I love and I'm using it as my work phone.

Just stumbled upon your content this morning, 2 1/2 hours later you've got a subscriber. Much love from the states. Something soothing to me about your voice, and sense of humor. Maybe it's due to being the rare rabid EPL fan in the Pacific Northwest! Keep it up!

I've got OnePlus 8t bought 2 yrs ago, battery still lasts as long as it used to last 2 yrs ago and I'm a heavy user, charging 2 times or 3 times a day sometimes

I'm just about to retire my OnePlus 5 after a glorious lifetime of use. Still working amazingly, but think I'm ready for an upgrade after all this time. OnePlus 10t seems like a good starting point and I don't really care much for the slider or camera.

Even tho I'm butt hurt about the alert slider, it makes the secret of oneplus flagships that much sweeter. I just picked up the max specced for 250$. Every oneplus I've had has taken an unbelievable beating and hate to even replace them.

I bought the OnePlus 8 two years ago and the phone is working flawlessly. Even the battery lasts as long as it should. My only gripe was their buggy version of android 12 which was terrible. Fortunately the android 13 is fine. I would consider buying one of their models again.

I watched 20 OP 10T reviews and everyone is complaining about the alert slider. I don't understand why, I use OP about 5 years already and idk if I use that button 10 times maybe 20 times but is not that big of a deal is they removed it. I understand the ppl need that button the backlash should be higher for more important things like the only two years of Android updates or some other more important things, not a damn button.

There is no replacement charger and cable for the 10T phone I bought.
It comes with a large bulky outlet plug so you can't easily carry it.
You can't use it anywhere where normally a USB charging could be used.
The only C-to-C cable available on the OnePlus site is for older phones, it's slower and too expensive compared to other cables.
I bought an additional expensive car charger. You can't use any other brand.
There is no USB option on the site.
The worst part is that the phone can't be charged using any cable other than OnePlus. A regular USB-C cable literally does not work. It can be plugged in for hours and the phone will gain maybe 10%.
If the original cable with a plug stop working, you are screwed.
Any other phone, whether it's Apple, Samsung, etc can be charged using compatible accessories, even though every brand recommends its own.
Only OnePlus designed their phones so it would be impossible to charge them with any cable other than OnePlus.
And then they don't have a replacement for sale.
It's ridiculous.
If I knew in advance, I would not buy this brand.

The screen burn in you're talking about, that is not burn in per see, but screen retention. Happens occasionally in mid-tier and older gen AMOLED panels, and looks like burn in. Mainly happens when the display shows a bright foreground on a black background for a long period of time. Have complained about this to OnePlus for years, but they claim it to be a "property of all AMOLED displays".

OnePlus 10 pro user here from 2024, and I gotta say this is one of the better phones I've used. For some context I've used the s23 ultra, pixel 7 pro, and z fold 5, amongst those I'd say the op10p comes in at second place. With that being said Ive decided to switch to the op10T as the curved display makes it impossible to find a good glass screen protector and the battery life although good, hasn't been great. Honestly there's only 2 things that I will miss from the op10P and that's the alert slider and wireless charging, but besides that I think the op10T is the better phone overall

I think OnePlus started using crack after the OnePlus 7 pro none of their phones after that was intriguing enough for me to spend money on

I'm sorry to say this, I really liked OnePlus. But I think their golden age is over now. Looking forward to HTC coming back again.

Might be worth picking up now that the price has plummeted, it's even cheaper than the nord 2t now

The alert slider wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, but I'd still go for the Pro model. It kinda looks "more premium".
