If they made Half life 3 I would have to live up to an immense amount of hype or everyone would flame, not just that but it would have to somehow push the boundaries of gaming and do something almost revolutionary. The series has had a huge impact on gaming, but I feel like most people want a third game just for the sake of having a third game. Personally I could care less is it ever comes out.

What happened after Eli died? What is on the ship? I assume it has something to do with portals or time travel or dimensions or cross-dimensional time portals. The entire Mass Effect series came out after Episode 2. I am so happy that Star Wars games are back, so that I have something to play from my childhood. Please make a new Half Life.

I don't think alot of people will agree with me on this, but I'd rather have Portal 3 then Half-Life 3

What a horrible way to answer that question, makes it sound as though they see Half Life as some little scrap project that a few devs may or may not take the time to develop. They're sitting on one of the biggest and most beloved IP's in gaming history and treat it like it's shit. If they're not going to make it I wish they would just say outright.

I've finally gotten around to playing the Half-Life series a couple of days ago.
The only old-school FPS I've played was Duke-Nukem 3D, but Half-Life feels like a modern FPS but yet still old-school (I guess this is me feeling that Half-Life was revolutionary.). I think it's an overstatement to say that it's the best fps ever but it's a great game!
I'm currently on the final level and still have the DLC to complete so I haven't touched Half-Life 2 yet; the most I've played of it was messing around in it's levels in Gmod.

The reason Valve aren't being active in developing games recently is because, Valve have started to make a lot more money from Steam, compared to their times on developing and funding money to make games. I honestly don't blame them, I would've done the same if I was in their place.

I didn't even enjoy Half Life 2, it was too lonely and quiet. But for some reason I'm still sorta hyped for Hal Life 3 if it ever comes.

I agree with others about how bad that answer was. It was cryptic and clearly meant to be confusing and not really mean anything at the the same same time. The last part though about nothing getting made unless some people at the studio feel they want to or something like that is...well I am not even sure how to describe it to be honest because it invokes a lot of emotions in me and none of them are good. I just find it hard to believe that nobody at Valve has or has had any interest in finishing the existing Half Life story line.

Worse yet I felt what he said without actually saying is "Yeah we know we didn't finish the story and it has been many years now and we know that their is this fan base still waiting for a conclusion but we just don't care. Go play our dumb MOBA game, buy stuff on STEAM, buy our crappy LINUX based system and our new VR Headset. Thanks every one, Your buddy Gabe.
