This band is severely, criminally underrated. They have a preternatural talent for infusing truly dark, sinister foreboding music with gorgeous earworm melody that practically COMPEL the listener to sing along. The difficulty of finding synergy with such wildly contrasting elements is staggering for even the most skilled & talented songwriters. Whenever I listen to this band I find myself wishing they had another 20 albums of music for me to explore. When I realize that's not possible, I wish there was another band who could come close to this brilliant brand of "metalgaze" perfection--only to go searching in vain. So inevitably I return to True Widow, quite worried I'll eventually tire of them...yet countless plays later & they're still likely my favorite band. (PS It's not a surprise my other favorite band DIIV credited listening to True Widow as one of the major influences for the sound on the new "Deceiver" LP, a quiet slow-burning classic)

The production is perfect on this. Delicious layers of vocal echoes rising above a wash of beautiful noise that's both soothing and driving. A true force to reckon with. Just gorgeous!
