You guys have got to fix the pairing process. Of all the bulbs I bought today, one paired. I am making the hour long drive tomorrow to return the ones that refuse to pair. As is evidenced by many posts on the internet, you're p-ssing a lot of people off.

I actually tried several switches. One worked really well (short cables to the bulb) when the others did not work at all. I suspect the others gave glitches during turning on and off the bulb interfering with the reset procedure. I.e. I recommend to try different light switches when you reset the trådfri bulb. Cheers

The trick is to start from off, turn On and Off 6 times and on the 7th hit you leave the light on. That's when you'll see the light flash ready to pair

I note that when switching on and off quickly the lantern does not have to be seen to illuminate and darken and go off each time to indicate that the electronics is getting quick successive pulses of mains.

While it's useful for user feedback to see the lamp light and go out, it often means that the pulse sequence is not happening quickly enough because of the lag between switching and illumination.

Just do the switching on and off as quickly as possible without relying on seeing the lamp light, then it will work every time for you.

Okay, I'm utterly stumped. I bought the bulb and dimmer as a set (pre-paired) which worked fine. I reset the remote and bulb so I could connect them to my Phoscon gateway (which didn't work - turns out I needed the two paired, duh!) But now they won't pair with each other, no matter what I try. I used a spare bulb and the remote paired with that instantly, although it's not the one I want to use. I wouldn't mind, but I've got a load of these bulbs working just fine with remotes, never had a problem until now.

The newer lamps are actually not that hard to reset, but on some of the older ones the timing _really_ has to be precise...

Edit: coming back to this video as I'm re-pairing my home setup. The best way I found is to play the video and switch the switch in sync with it.

Just switching off and on 6 times didn't work. Then I tried to play video and switch the light off and on synchronously (almost) - it worked. A bit tricky, but possible :)

I love u IKEA but i am about to trough the whole TRÅDFRI set away ! So frustrating trying to add the new bulbs. I am completely stock with just two bulbs working and 5 more completely useless PLEASE HELP !!

Unbedingt mit AUS beginnen. Dann 6 mal Ein/AUS schalten und danach nochmal Ein ! Danach flackert die Lampe kurz auf oder wird heller. Hat bei mir sofort funktioniert.

Hold "on" button and you will see the bulb will get really bright, hold "off" button and bulb will dim down.

So what does the bulb do to let you know it's successfully reset? I have some that dim briefly and then turn back on, but I can't pair them. Is that dimming meant to indicate they are reset, or something else?

So tried half an hour, came here, satisfied that I am not the only dumb f*ck … and then tried it again. Worked, on the first try. My trick: the exakt timing of the animation in the app. (Read a tip, that you could match the speed of the video as well.)

Hey ikea. There is absolutely no reason when the remote battery runs out that all bulbs become inoperable and ultimately only one of them can be paired back
