Book's Ship Can't Be Beamed Into ? Internal Continuity Mistake in Star Trek Discovery

My main question through the whole episode was "why don't they just put a tractor beam on Book's ship?"

Also, Star Trek already had a way to prevent people beaming on ships: it's called shields.

It's one thing to try and maintain continuity with a show 20 years back, but when you can't even maintain continuity within your own show that's just incredibly poor.
Can't say I blame them though, I wouldn't want to review episodes of Discovery to maintain continuity either.

I had to freeze-frame it, but it was still blurry—was that _Tilly_ joining in with the impromptu Kali Knife Fighting? She picked that up in her spare time, maybe? Picked the elf-blades up from the quartermaster, along with a fresh hypo-allergenic pillow?

Also...y'know what would have been REALLY efficient at taking out the crew of a small starship you were trying to raid? Beaming in a dozen hand grenades. Not even future ones, just crummy, thousand year old designs. 'Probably could have even done ancient, cast-iron, black-powder ones you had to light the fuse on.

Or, if you were worried about damaging hardware...beam in a pocket of poison gas. Or just non-breathable gas. Or beam OUT most of the air.

Not the first time they contradict themselves. I thought the spore drive would make the spore people (or whatever they are called) mad or kill them or something like that? But they still keep trippin´ high on magic mushrooms.

They must have reversed the field polarity on the security disruption field. Reversing the field polarity
always works.

There's no comtradiction: the security disruption field can be infiltrated by someone if they're holding an Iron Age-technology sword

Nutrek writers have a complete hard on for illogical futuristic sword fights.

At least melee weapon fights in say, TNG made sense because typically they were during Klingon specific episodes.

Here it's, "hey Jill, let's beam down with swords instead of a disruptor pistol. Why? Who cares, it will look cool!"

That’s been perhaps the biggest facepalm aspect of Discovery from the beginning: We know they don’t give a crap about continuity with the rest of the franchise, but the craziest thing is that they have never been internally consistent either—often even in the same episode. It’s like firing buckshot at sheetrock and that’s their plot.

Doesn't a "security disruption field" simply disrupt security? Would you not want "Disruption field security" or even a "Disruption security field"?

Are the writers now having problems with established dictionary words or something? It is all so utterly dumb!
