Frankfurt Airport had to curtail operations as heavy rain lashed the city on Wednesday, August 16th. The terrible weather led to dozens of flights being canceled, and there were even instances of passengers unable to disembark from aircraft after they had landed due to the flooding of the apron! Let’s look at what happened, in today’s video.

"For those deboarding planes at remote stands, please swim for the aircraft to the terminal. *Warning* for those with Ryanair tickets, boats will be offered for an additional charge."

Also what happened is before midnight when flights resumed, around 8 planes were taxiing to take off but because it was 00:00, they all had to return to gate. For example the Korean Air flight FRA-ICN KE946 was scheduled to take off at 19:40, after a long delay at 23:50 they were taxiing to take off, but unfortunately for the passengers & crew before they reached the runaway it clocked 00:00, and aircraft had to return back to gate and disembark etc. The next day the flight took off to Seoul at 2pm, and this happened with few other flights. Imagine the frustration...

Wasn't really that big of deal if only 1000 passengers were impacted at such a large airport. Usual social media reports

So, Frankfurt airport is not the best airport in Europe after all. If flood water controls was not taking into consideration when planning the construction of the airport beforehand, how come it won that award repeatedly? 😂😅😅

That is nothing in comparison to numerous Chinese airports. The new Beijing one was covered by nearly 2 m of water

Third world country ....oh..it's just Frankfurt ...I see Europeans criticize places like India which deals with severe monsoon and say that they need better water management system..while Germany can't take a little drizzle when compared to Monsoons.
