All I've been able to find on the internet is what bullying looks like and what not to do, but I can not find a resource on what TO do.

I really wish the video would have covered more on the best approaches. I understand the points made, but all this video said was what was wrong with our systems, not what could be done to improve them or what IS working with each of these practices (and other practices as well).

In a study of popular children's shows, 92% were determined to depict social aggression, i.e. bullying. Children are exposed to bullying almost 14 times an hour when they watch supposedly educational, pro-social programs. Children do not learn NOT to bully by being shown 20 minutes of social aggression followed by 3 minutes of kiss and make-up. They watch who is at the top of the pecking order. Those are the characters they emulate regardless of how much we "tell" them it's better to be nice.

Unfortunately, Bradshaw didn't speak on what approaches people can take to avoid or prevent bullying, after basically slashing all the strategies that she listed. In fact, I think she oversimplified the strategies themselves. The point of the video should be to think critically of the 5 misdirections, but not to cut them out of bullying approaches entirely, because in some cases they've shown to be working. There will never be an overall one approach to bullying, it takes a multi-dimensional approach by using different strategies...especially considering the diversity of schools today.

sciencenewsline So-called "educational" children's programming creates bullies. Changing how we socialize young children, especially changing the messages throughout children's programming but most critically what is aimed at toddlers courtesy of PBS, Nickelodeon, and The Disney Channel, is the single most important thing we can do to prevent bullying. Read Chapter 9 of "Nurture Shock" by Bronson and Merryman for a complete explanation.

The problem is the rejection of God. He is the only remedy for bullying. They need to bring bible study back to the public school and prayer, to acknowledge God, until then nothing will get better it will worsen.
