IMPORTANT NOTE, answering a comment below: I only ran the computer without a heatsink because I had to test two processors, and I only ran it until the computer POST and I confirmed the CPU is fine. If I'd have only one CPU, I'd have assembled it directly with a heatsink. Never run your computer without a CPU heatsink and proper cooling for any longer than the required to confirm the CPU works.

very stupid to not attach the heatsink I wouldn't do that at all it only takes a few minute to install and there isn't a good reson to leave it off.

you put too much thermal paste. one small dot should be more than enough.
