Straight up, this is probably the easiest way to enter into some really interesting chord territory. That being said, this is just one method of many that you could use. Hope it helps!

trevor you’ve honestly inspired me to take playing guitar seriously again. i never really went in depth with learning all the technicalities of guitar but i’ve been watching so many of your videos so i can try to get a better understanding. thank you for doing these :)

I just learned if I’m gonna play beautiful music, I REALLY gotta know my shit like the back of my hand, this is amazing motivation to dive into the more “boring” aspects of the craft because it’s giving such accessible and evidential steps and guidelines to turn what would usually be considered boring into something fun and gorgeous

I can't play that Bmi9 without immediately hearing Try Honesty by Billy Talent

Very useful, i definitely need to start alternating bass notes while keeping the rest of the chord more

My first time coming across your channel! Great explanation! I modify my chords like this all the time but easily lose sight of what to even call the chord anymore.

I love using Midwest emo chord progressions and using them to make prog metal, it’s so cool

Pretty close to Billy Idols Try Honesty and that's not a bad thing

I hear the gusto, but I feel playing the progression with a gentler inflection like in the tutorial and some melodic accents will put you right into Midwest emo/math rock territory, i.e. Clever Girl.

Once you go above 3 tones and you really start strumming, even clean bright tones can get washed out.

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but what tuning are you playing in?

Hey man, I appreciate the effort but I didn't really learn anything. The reason is that this is more of a "tutorial" on how to play one particular progression rather than discussing the philosophy and harmonic action (IDK english term but I mean the interaction between the chords). What I got from this was one maj7 chord in different grips (again forgot english term, I'm referring to the order of the notes in the chord)?? Surely there's more to it than just variations of one maj7
